The oldest and most spectacular failure is Lyndon Johnson's misbegotten War on Poverty. Clearly the biggest loser, clearly mostly in Democratic constituencies, clearly the most hopeless of all as long as those constituencies remain Democrat.

The War on Drugs is just as hopeless as long as the demand is alive and vigorous. Isolate the users and the supply will dry up.

War on terror. It will never be won as long as the terrorists have their home base in local mosques and the direct line between whoever Osama bin Laden's successor and a potential terrorist is your local imam.

Christmas Eve in Chicago was bloody – as are most evenings these days – with seven people hurt in shootings across the South Side and West Side of the city. The evening led off with a 37-year-old man taking fire to the leg and back in the South Side. At 7:30 p.m., a male opened fire in the Far South Side, hitting four other males; all four were taken to the hospital in serious or critical condition. A few hours later, a 19-year-old was shot in the head on the West side. A few hours after that, a 21-year-old took a bullet during an attempted robbery on the South Side. The assailants attempted to rob him while he sat in his car.

Chicago is one of the most heavily gun controlled cities in the nation.

If people were allowed to license and pack their own guns, the criminals would not be so bold.

This country is so screwed up - why don't we have a war on violent offenders. We are lax on the societal predators, but stuff are prisons full of pot heads? These gangbangers, and hoodlums should be put to death the second time they victimize someone - they are a scurge on society. Uh no....most crimes are done by repeat offender criminals that have been caught or haven't been caught.

If the justice system would have real and longer jail sentences for criminals, then less of them would be on the street killing people with guns they aren't allowed to have in the first place.
