Civil rights doesn't just apply to African Americans, it extends to any demographic that is denied equal oppurtunuties under the law. He seems pissed that Liberals lumped in homosexuals with Blacks, but the fact of the matter is any group that is fighting for rights can liken and find encouragement from those who have fought for civil rights before them.

Sounds more like a rebellion brewing on the Democrat plantation. The Bishop is simply telling Black Christians that their religious faith is much more important than politics, and the Democrat party is moving further and further away from their religious faith, and into the realm of the faithless.
