As important as tax dollars are in this issue, Americans should be more concerned over taxpayers being forced to pay for political beliefs they do not agree with. Whether or not you agree that socialism is a religion, funding the CPB is a direct violation of the First Amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,. . .

When Americans think about the first 10 words in the First Amendment they should think in terms of beliefs rather than formal religions. No American of one faith would tolerate being forced to fund another faith, yet everybody is being forced to pay for socialism’s belief system.

As to the next 6 words:

. . . or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; . . .

Nobody wants to prohibit Socialists from exercising their beliefs so long as they pay for them out of their own pockets. I know one thing for sure. Stop funding socialism with tax dollars and Socialists will disappear faster than mass exterminations could ever accomplish. Guess how many Socialists would be left if they alone had to pay for the touchy-feely garbage the government forces everybody else to pay for.

I’ll close on a lighter note. The Big Bird cock-a-hoop Romney triggered throughout Liberaldom made me think of MO’s campaign against obesity. From what I can gather she is insisting kids eat like birds while wealthy Democrats continue to shit like elephants —— pun intended.

To strollingbones: The size of the budget is another issue entirely. Even with a huge budget surplus —— taking a single penny from every American by force in order to pay for the propagation of socialism’s beliefs is taking a penny too much.

I don’t know what your religion is, if any. For this discussion let’s say you are a Methodist. How do you feel about the government taking your money and giving it to Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, or any religion not of your choosing? I cannot answer for you, but I can answer for everyone else. They would scream bloody murder.

Anybody who would upset the balance between government and organized religion is too stupid to understand the beauty of the First Amendment. Try to wrap your brain around this:

Government and organized religion will always plague mankind. America’s Founders codified a way to limit the inherent evil in both. Limit government and keep organized religion voluntary. Give either one too much power and freedom dies.

A partnership between government and religion is a theocracy. The one the Socialist priesthood is establishing worldwide is no different than an Islamic theocracy. Such a partnership is more to be feared than too much power in the hands of either government or religion because it will bury individual liberties for as many centuries as it took to achieve them.
