It depends harmonica, if the Judge was a Liberal or Libertarian.

If Libertarians wrote the laws and court order naming them "legal guardians"
they would play that role only, which is purely legal, financial and secular.
No mention of social role or relationship would be dictated,
since that's not the government's business.

If Liberals wrote it, who knows?

Jamie could end up with two mommies, two daddies,
a sugar daddy and sugar mommy, whatever
roles, genders, identities, or 58 facebook terms
that those people decide to name themselves!

As for her and Steve, I think there's an unwritten rule in TV land
against the two leads marrying, or else the writers either have
to kill one of them off, or kill the whole series. Someone or everyone gets the death penalty.
