Medical pot ranks as blockbuster drug - Business - Small business - msnbc.com

Medical marijuana is now a $1.7 billion market, according to a report released Wednesday by See Change Strategy, an independent financial analysis firm that specializes in new and unique markets. The figure represents estimated sales of marijuana through dispensaries in states with medical marijuana laws. It is the first time a definitive dollar figure has been given to the emerging medical cannabis industry.

..To put that number in perspective, sales of medical marijuana rival annual revenue generated by Viagra, a $1.9 billion business for Pfizer.

The rising sales are generating growing interest from entrepreneurs and even some venture capitalists as the medical marijuana market is expected to nearly double in the next five years just in the 15 states where the drug has some protection under the law. If another 20 states pass medical marijuana laws — as the study projects is possible — the market could grow to $8.9 billion in 2016.

You dont really understand my point of view then

So you are for removing impediments to businesses in the form of regulations?
I agree. Let's fix the corporate taxes and other impediments so we can build Nuclear plants and drill where ever oil can be found.

Medical marijuana... right. That marijuana is being used for medical reasons about as much as that viagra is.

If you believe in freedom of the people than you should believe in people not having laws designed to pretend a drug like pot is dangerous enough to ban.

I like to smoke weed as much as the next guy, but this is a stupid thing to be worried about....Pay attention to the things that really matter

I don't know whether its amusing or just sad that the left is more concerned about legalizing a weed they want to smoke then they are about protecting the rights of their unborn children.

To keep pot illegal is stupid at best.

Its needs to be allowed to be up to the people if they partake in this nearly harmless drug.

Legalized Dope would probably be the law of the land already if pot heads didn't keep sleeping through election days when it was on the ballot.

Legalizing would be a huge boon to our economy as well as being in step with personal freedoms.
