This only has 6 sponsors so far, and hasn't even been taken up in committee, but it's a start. Lets see if it even sees the light of day.

Cosponsors - H.R.1227 - 115th Congress (2017-2018): Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act of 2017

The crux of the text as it amends the Controlled Substances Act of 1970

Prohibition On Certain Shipping Or Transportation.—This Act shall not apply to marihuana, except that it shall be unlawful only to ship or transport, in any manner or by any means whatsoever, marihuana, from one State, territory, or district of the United States, or place noncontiguous to but subject to the jurisdiction thereof, into any other State, territory, or district of the United States, or place noncontiguous to but subject to the jurisdiction thereof, or from any foreign country into any State, territory, or district of the United States, or place noncontiguous to but subject to the jurisdiction thereof, when such marihuana is intended, by any person interested therein, to be received, possessed, sold, or in any manner used, either in the original package or otherwise, in violation of any law of such State, territory, or district of the United States, or place noncontiguous to but subject to the jurisdiction thereof.

So basically Pot would get the Alcohol treatment. States can regulate it, and all the feds do is punish people who try to bring it into places where it is locally banned.

it needs to at least be decriminalized and taken off of schedule 1.... but have tough penalties for those who abuse it....like driving or smoking around others....

The driving thing is easy to regulate, the smoking around others? Unless you are in a mass of people at a Phish concert, contact highs are more of a myth than reality.

At a Phish concert though, it is 100% reality, especially in indoor arenas.

Only 6 sponsors and hasn't been taken up in committee but pipe dreamers say "it's a start". Be advised that President Trump doesn't smoke or drink so y'all pot heads might as well table your fantasy for at least four years and most likely 8 years.

H.R. 1227 is going nowhere. Without a very Liberal Democrat in the White House and a strongly Progressive Democratic Congress marijuana prohibition will be strengthened, if anything. We may rest assured that the only effect introduction of this Bill will have is a frantic surge of lobbying (bribery) by the liquor industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the prison industrial complex, and the legal profession.

Because each of these entities, and a lot more, will be severely compromised if recreational pot is ever legalized. The beer industry has already suffered a $2 billion setback in the collective states where pot is now legal.

i know that....im saying treat it like cigarettes....if its not allowed to smoke in an area, then that includes pot too.....

Well, considering it's direct link to schizophrenia I can see why the DC establishment would want the people to have it.

Medical pot?
Let it go through the FDA testing for drugs then.

But it never has, because everyone knows it fails.

Stranger things have happened. Nixon gave birth to the epa and endangered species act.
But those Acts were not opposed by lobbyists bearing attache cases filled with $100 bills. Keep in mind the kind of money that marijuana legalization will cost a number of prominent industries.

Just what do you suppose has been behind Reefer Madness and the phony marijuana prohibition all these years? They even got to Obama who readily admitted to smoking pot "frequently" when he was running for Office -- then refused to even discuss the issue after being elected. And do you believe President Blowjob, who said, "Ah smoked it once, but ah didn't inhayle"

Yes I'm aware of big biz standing in the way of making pot legal. Just like big coal spent loads of cash opposing nuke power back in the day when it was coming on strong.

There is no link.

Marijuana Does Not Cause Schizophrenia, Harvard Study Finds

No Evidence To Support Cannabis/Schizophrenia Link

Democrats see marijuana as a way of keeping the public sedated and compliant.
There assuredly are a percentage of ignorant, narrow-minded Democrats who believe that. But that percentage of Democrats doesn't come close to the number of repressive, "law & order" oriented, authoritarian Republicans the vast majority of whom are effectively brainwashed by Reefer Madness propaganda.

If we examine the issue of marijuana prohibition objectively, adhering to the facts and ignoring the unsubstantiated fiction, we find first that there is not a single example in the annals of medical science of anyone having died or been made sick from (uncontaminated) marijuana. From there the list of positive effects of marijuana use, beginning with its many medical benefits, eliminates any possible conclusion that marijuana, when used properly by adults, is in any way harmful. Yet over the years our governments have wasted trillions of tax dollars and ruined or destroyed millions of innocent, decent and harmless lives in support of a prohibition which in many ways is equivalent to the utterly insane persecution of witches in Old Salem.

When are the demented reformers going to wake up and stop this stupid madness?

the FDA?....they allow prescribed drugs to be used with some pretty nasty side effects.....so im supposed to jump for joy what they say?....my wife is an epileptic....pot does something that NO prescribed Epilepsy drug has done, stop the tremor in her right hand, and makes her feel mentally relaxed, while many of the pills made her feel catatonic to the things around here or did very little..and she has tried them all.....
