Big LIE Postal Union commercial.. Post office does use Tax payer money!!!

You're right, Full-Auto.

I can't believe some claim that the post office doesn't rely on tax payer money.

We fund them or they wouldn't exist. Sure, they charge for services, but if we didn't pay salaries, they couldn't function. And the government has hired too many workers to run the post offices. Unions would insist that we continue to pay people to sit around because it's not acceptable to reduce the postal workers to what we actually need. Once they have their hands in our pockets, they don't let go.
well believe it......the PO has been paying their own way since the early 70's.......and they are too top heavy management wise......they are short handed on the workers side.....

Unions would insist that we continue to pay people to sit around because it's not acceptable to reduce the postal workers to what we actually need.

another example of someone on the outside looking in.....not the way it is Clem........

I've heard this commercial:

Paid for by the postal workers UNION...

The union’s 30-second ad describes the enormity of the job postal workers do, and ends with a question and response:
Ever wonder what this costs you as a taxpayer?
Not a single cent."

TOTAL LIE!!
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) asked the union to cancel a union-sponsored television ad that has been airing on CNN, MSNBC, and FOX News.

In a letter to President Cliff Guffey dated July 11,2011, the day the ad began airing, Issa called the ad “misleading,” and in a July 13 posting on the Web site of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, which he chairs, Issa asked the union to cancel the ad campaign.

The reason is THE Postal Service borrows from the Federal Financing Bank (FFB), a government-owned corporation under the general supervision of the Secretary of the Treasury, provide the Postal Service revolving credit lines of $4 billion!

At year-end, the current estimated market value of our debt was $1,800 million in 2004 and $7,283 million in 2003. Debt consists of $1,800 million in cash drawn on our line of credit with the FFB.
Financial Statements

WHERE did the FFB get their MONEY??? TAX Payers!!!
Government Sponsored Loan-Sharking Bank of Congress: Using Your Tax Dollars to Pander to Special Interests and Fund Pet Projects at Taxpayer Loss.

The U.S. Postal Service (which had $3.8 billion subsidy in 2009) selects an average of 1,125 employees daily to sit in empty “standby rooms.”
They are not allowed to work, read, play cards, watch television, or do anything.
The annual cost is $50 million!

Because of the American Postal Workers Union!
And guess how this ad campaign paid for?
UNION DUES!
Who pays the dues... UNIONIZED Postal workers!
Guess who donates 90% of their donations to Democrats ? Unions!
Guess who writes the bills that authorizes paychecks for the 1,125 employees that sit,in empty rooms at a cost of $50 million a year?
Democrats that receive donations from unions that pay for the commercials that CONVINCE you "oh...no.!.no.! NO tax payers money being used"!
And the circle jerk is completed with tax payers left paying the tab!

STOP THE PRESSES!

YOU FORGOT SOME IMPORTANT FACTS!!!!

Instead, postal officials want changes in the way they operate, including relief from the requirement that it prefund medical costs. No other federal agency has to prefund retiree health benefits, but because of the way the federal budget is organized the money counts as income to the government, so eliminating it would make the federal deficit appear larger.
When Congress restructured postal operations in 2006 it ordered the agency to establish a separate fund to begin covering those benefits, instead of using money for the post office's general fund, starting in 2017, and to make annual advance payments to that account. The payment due Sept. 30 would be $5.5 billion.

That was the Republican lame duck congress in 2006. They just have to fuck the American people one more time before leaving office. In truth, they were thinking ahead. Some Blue States vote through the post office. Get rid of that and many people probably won't vote. It fits right in with all their other anti-American voter suppression policies the Republican base sees nothing wrong with.

Fancy that shit. someone who was smart was able to see the handwriting on the wall and knew the taxpayer was gonna have it stuck to them so they made passed a resolution which prevents the unions from sucking us dry.. good for them.. fund your own goddamned retirement.. use that money you pay the demoncrats with.

thats not why this was passed Willow......the PO is a cash Cow for Congress......they just made it more so by making them pay the 5 Billion up front.......the PO funds its own retirement.....

We know the USPO isn't self sufficient so who pays the salaries and benefits and prnsions of postal workers? The dirty little secret is that the USPO doesn't have to operate efficiently as long as it is supported by taxpayers. Who cares if they stop making saturday deliveries as long as it doesn't take $1.00 to mail a letter next year.

the PO has been self sufficient.....until 2006......and they are MANDATED by Congress to not make money.....which makes them look pretty inefficient....

The real goal is to destroy the Post Office and turn it over to private companies that will give to Republicans. For the Blue States that rely on the Post Office to cast ballots in elections, Republicans hope those votes will go away.

To Republicans, they see destroying the Post Office as getting two birds with one stone.

since day one on the job in 79 i have heard the Privatization story every election.....and here it is again.....remember this.....the PO delivers the Politicians Political Mail during elections for just about free, and it gets treated like First Class......NO Private Company would do this, without charging what they should be charging for this type of mail.....and Political Mail is a very effective way to get your name and face in peoples heads.......

The USPO is probably too big for the task it now serves.

Some downsizing is now in order.

Mostly it now serves to bring junk mail to most of us.

Sadly, you're right. They should make the cost of a stamp $0.75 cents to keep the junk mail down to a minimum.

the "junk mail" is a multi- billion dollar industry...........the PO gets paid quite a bit to deliver it.....do you think they will keep it to a minimum?

I imagine it does add up over time but if you were to take the average 2nd class mailing, the Post Office is not making money off of it on a case by case basis since it travels at the much lower than $0.44 rate that first class does. It also is much heavier. The catch is that they have until kingdom come to deliver it and it won't be forwarded.

Raising first class to $0.75 would more than make up for the lack of junk mail.

Anyone who saw the viral video of the Fed Ex guy throwing the computer monitor box over the fence can see what privatization gets us.

Postal workers sitting on their ass in mass, ducking routes so they are not over burdened the following day is far worse then a package being thrown.

I even caught one dealing coke.

i WOULD TAKE FED EX IN A HEART BEAT
