That's cause their paid to stay home and get nice and drunk.

On the dime of people who actually have to get to work.

That's right. Mrs. Palin makes sure they get their share of oil money.

Please tell me you aren't in charge of anything important.

This is probably the most ignorant post in the thread.

How are the people who are in charge of anything important in NYC doing?

You've made the ridiculous claim that the workforce size from 1997 is just fine. As if the city hasn't changed from that time. I guess you've missed the multiple construction projects like the 2nd ave subway, 9/11 or a host of other things that might add complexity to the role of the Sanitation Department.

But go on. Bray about how we lost 4 congressional seats or something.

That's helpful.

Sallow, are you defending your vacation buddies now or what? Everybody but you seems to recognize there was a big breakdown of service, that had much more to do with factors other than the actual snow fall. Be honest. What's done is done. Do we learn from it, or recycle the same excuses next time.

All the gold standards of socialism, aka municipal services, laid bare, once and for all.

By God, you are so right. If all of these rightwingloons weren't such wussies, they would have gone out and bought themselves a brand new snowplow and cleaned their own streets. That is the real individualist American way.

Dirty socialism. Cities should never offer water systems, roads, or anything else that is socialistic to their citizens. They should only be concerned about the care and benefit of the upper 2% of the population. That is all that counts.

They don't work when you really need them. What is the point of empowering these people with more control of your life?

What is this social contract worth, anyway?

When you are dealing with millions of people everyday, you need a social contract Revere. Chaos is not pretty. Let's distinguish laws meant to bring clarity, flow, between those meant to obstruct, control for no good reason, and clean out our wallets. Government by the consent of the Governed, V.S. Government by the Elite, to advance their life style at the expense of the rest of us. The Empire State mentality is what needs to take a flying fuck, that does not mean we should abandon reason and good will. The more condensed the population, the more you need to establish the do's and dont's, or the first casualty is quality of life. The key is reason and consent.

 The ones on this thread, dope.

Are they bitching about Christie vacationing in Disney while NJ freezes their ass off?:eusa_shhh:

Did NJ suffer the way NYC did? Were things in control in NJ? How many vacations did Christie take compared to Obama?....;)

I noted the Koz Kidz really tried to zing Christie with this, also pointing out that Mayor Booker was outside during the cleanup physically helping people. The difference is that when it comes to things like snow removal, etc, the local government is acutally accountable for the work, short of large highways, transit, etc.

Notice that the NJ state level functions during the storm worked just fine even with the top 2 executives getting some sun down in The secret jewish/italian burial grounds (Orlando).

That being said what Booker did was actually pretty awsome, gives him some street cred.
