White House Seeks to Capture and Archive Citizens’ Comments on its Facebook, YouTube, MySpace Sites
Tuesday, September 01, 2009
By Fred Lucas, Staff Writer

President Barack Obama (AP Photo)
(CNSNews.com) – Anyone who posts comments on the White House’s Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and Twitter pages will have their statements captured and permanently archived by the federal government, according to a plan that the White House is now seeking a contractor to carry out.

The Executive Office of the President is looking for a private contractor to capture and archive comments and information posted on social networking and new media sites where the White House has established a presence. While the Presidential Records Act (PRA) generally requires that the administration preserve information generated by the president and his staff, the White House says that in seeking to collect and preserve comments made by common citizens on social networking sites it is acting “out of an abundance of caution” to comply with the law.

Yes. A link would be nice.

Why in the hell would C* Frank think something someone posts on a social networking site would be private anyway? If the person knows their comments will be saved, then they will post or not post.

Don't post there if you don't like it dude.
Stop freaking out so much over every little thing!

The Bush Administration listened to people on Sat Phones in caves in Afghanistan and Libruls has a shitfit, Obama is copying everyone tweets and there's NOT A FUCKING PEEP from the good little citizens of the Cambodian Killing Fields aka: the American Left.

Thank You ;)

Okay, now for my poster response, that's actually not a big deal, anyone can do it, those are public access sites as it is and anyone can archive anything they find on them. It would be bad if they were forcing privately owned and operated sites to give them any information that is not viewable by the public.

Why is it the White House's business?

Seriously?! Why do we need to have a government that catalogues all our posts?

Amazing that people are so STUPID that they don't see the danger of what the POTUS is doing, and it's Nefarious intent?

*WE* have already seen the results of Obama's "CALL TO ARMS" regarding TOWN HALLS this Summer... People being assaulted, Property being damaged by Statist operatives, and being BLAMED on others?

Are people really asleep at the switch? Boggles the friggin' Mind, Frank...

All of a sudden they think Facebook and myspace is "big brother" because of the President, when all along it always has been that way!

Ack! Now you've done it! They'll come and get you!

Obama is an idiot, and the "turn your neighbor in" email was wrong, but this, this is just a little too much paranoia.

Seriously, what the hell do you expect is going to happen to stuff that you post on white house websites?

ON THE WHITE HOUSE PAGE!

Dur! And if people who post on these sites anyway think any of their stuff is private, they are delusional.

Again, when it happens, and you don't want to be archived, then don't post on it. For the same reason if you don't want the world to know your private info then don't get a myspace/facebook account, etc.

I just don't understand the hysteria over this issue.
