The Biden Plan for Securing Our Values as a Nation of Immigrants – Joe Biden for President

Like every nation, the U.S. has a right and a duty to secure our borders and protect our people against threats. But we know that immigrants and immigrant communities are not a threat to our security, and the government should never use xenophobia or fear tactics to scare voters for political gain. It’s irresponsible and un-American. Building a wall from sea-to-shining-sea is not a serious policy solution–it’s a waste of money, and it diverts critical resources away from the real threats.
Illegal Immigrant Rapist Had Been Deported 9 Times - Judicial Watch

The level of incompetence among federal immigration authorities in this case would be comical if Madrigal’s crimes weren’t so heinous. After the first deportation in 1989 for using a firearm to commit theft, Madrigal got deported several more times in the next few years. In 1999 he was deported three times in a four-month period after drug-related arrests. After a similar offense in 2000 he got deported yet again and in 2002 he got deported after pleading guilty to sexual assault in Denver. In 2003 Madrigal got deported three more times.

It would seem like a huge joke if the illegal immigrant didn’t brutally rape a woman last week.
How much "new technology" is going to matter, if you deport someone 9 times, three in one four month period, only to have just flat out walk right back into the country? The dude didn't even need a ladder, or a saw to cut through anything. He just walked back in.

From Biden:

Manage migration through refugee resettlement and other legal programs. Whenever possible, we should enable asylum-seekers to make their claim without undertaking the dangerous journey to the U.S.

My understanding is that anyone can apply for asylum at any US embassy, or port of entry, without needing to "undertake the dangerous journey" through a desert to cross illegally.

Can anyone contradict that?

From Biden:

Double the number of immigration judges, court staff, and interpreters. There is a backlog of more than one million immigration cases in the administrative system resulting in applicants often waiting years before their cases are heard. This increase in vital immigration court staffing will support timely and fair adjudications for asylum and other cases.
Trump has filled dozens on dozens of vacant judge positions. Further, if I'm not mistaken, isn't it the job of congress to create and fund those positions? Shouldn't they be doing this?

When undocumented immigrants are victims of serious crimes and help in the investigation of those crimes, they become eligible for U Visas. The Obama-Biden Administration expanded the U Visa program to certain workplace crimes. As president, Biden will further extend these protections to victims of any workplace violations of federal, state, or local labor law by securing passage of the POWER Act. And, a Biden Administration will ensure that workers on temporary visas are protected so that they are able to exercise the labor rights to which they are entitled.
Increases visas for domestic violence survivors. Under the Trump Administration, there are unacceptable processing delays for adjudicating applications for VAWA self-petitions, U-visas, and T-visas. As president, Biden will end these delays and give victims the security and certainty they need. And, Biden will triple the current cap of 10,000 on U-visas; this cap is insufficient to meet the dire needs of victims and hinders our public safety.
So if you come here illegally, and something bad happens.... then you get a VISA? This would seem to encourage 'fault finding', and possibly even fraud. A husband and wife come here, he pretends to hit her, she screams, and gets a VISA?

Creates a new visa category to allow cities and counties to petition for higher levels of immigrants to support their growth. The disparity in economic growth between U.S. cities, and between rural communities and urban areas, is one of the great imbalances of today’s economy. Some cities and many rural communities struggle with shrinking populations, an erosion of economic opportunity, and local businesses that face unique challenges. As president, Biden will support a program to allow any county or municipal executive of a large or midsize county or city to petition for additional immigrant visas to support the region’s economic development strategy, provided employers in those regions certify there are available jobs, and that there are no workers to fill them.

Now this is just asinine. We already have too complicated of a system, and instead of simplifying and make it more streamline.... we're going to make it even more complicated.

Moreover, what a ridiculous claim. Have Cities and rural communities, apply to have a special visa, to bring immigrants to that community?

Immigrants are not pawns that can be moved around and planted like a tree. Youngstown Ohio, is dying. Slowly, but it is declining year over year. If Youngstown gets a special visa, and a bunch of immigrants show up, they are not going to stay there. Once they process their papers, they are gone.

One of the Nordic countries, I can't remember which... Sweden or Finland, spent millions of dollars building accommodations for immigrants, as part of the EU settlement program. If you remember, for a awhile the EU wanted each country to take a percentage of the immigrants.

The result was, they came, they got their papers, and they left.

Reverse Trump’s public charge rule, which runs counter to our values as Americans and the history of our nation. Allowing immigration officials to make an individual’s ability to receive a visa or gain permanent residency contingent on their use of government services such as SNAP benefits or Medicaid, their household income, and other discriminatory criteria undermines America’s character as land of opportunity that is open and welcoming to all, not just the wealthy.

What? So now, American Values are living off the government? In fact, living off the government when you are not even a citizen?

Am I missing something here? Since when is living off the government, a fundamental American value?

If we reverse that... then basically we're saying, anyone can enter the country, we're not even going to have a wall.... and you can live off the American tax payer until you die, and there is not even a hint as a consequence.

IS that the America we want?
