Biden: Clear 'Mandate' to Raise Taxes

Welfare is wrong because it violates liberty in the sense that you have to take by force from people to have it. You basically are making slaves of people by giving partial ownership of the their labor to other people.

There will always, always, always be a percent of the population that will be poor and as a country we should help them, both by charitable organizations and government.

It's those who use welfare as a leg to stand on, rather than a leg up, who need to be booted off.

you better get you some blood from a stone you stupid penis head, cause there isn't enough money in the rich man's pocket to fund socialism.

And another talking point....why am I not surprised? I'll tell you what....we'll start by stripping you of your Social Security checks and your Medicare card....don't worry...you can be a greeter at Walmart and we'll give you a voucher to help pay for YOUR medical coverage.

She paid into SS and Medicare for a lifetime ... and you want to take that from her?

Voucher? Haven't you heard? ACA is here to stay, it will cover everyone, it will cover everything, low costs to all.

Giddyup!

No, I don't want to take it from her...but I don't want it taken from me either.

I've been paying into it too....for 33 years....I started working at 14....but you would have no problem cutting me and people like me....people who have kids in college and are struggling to make ends meet and don't have the time or revenue to prepare for the cuts to the program we were counting on.

Like I said...if you were to offer a reasonable way of cutting that doesn't include people working till they're 70 and too damned old and feeble to enjoy retirement...I'd be interested in hearing it.

I think a reasonable approach is to make the cutoff age low enough that people can prepare....30-35 would might be good.

I still say rather than just booting them off, reinstitute the CCC and the WPA(the way FDR invented the system) and have these people work for their measly benefits....if they have to work anyway, that should provide ample motivation to get off the dole and onto bettering their lives. Plus, the taxpayer gets a return on the investment.

Do you honestly think that the entitlement society that America has become would tolerate something like the WPA, Steel? I can hear the HOWLS of protest now if you tried to institute that.

Fuck 'em.....That's the way I see it. Let them howl....but if they want their subsidies and are able bodied/minded....they'll fucking work for it.

Perhaps some of these generational welfare types will acquire a work ethic and a sense of pride in accomplishment and we'll never see them on the dole again.

But once again.....the private sector is going to have to do their part too....learn to live with a little less profit, a little less personal wealth and pay good wages to their employees so that they are better off working than on the dole. Outsourcing jobs and pocketing the windfall and forcing more and more Americans into shitty jobs isn't going to do them....or the country any good.

That is fine and dandy, I'm all for helping people, but you don't do it by force. It subverts the entire idea of private property that was the basis for our new government and destroys freedom.

Yes! Those tax raises will bring in 800 billion over ten years. With 1.3 trillion in deficit spending, we should be moving towards a balanced budget by....never. So talking about tax increases while sliding in debt/deficit is a complete and utter joke.

It's like saying you're going to work one hour of over time each month at $20 hr to help pay off $100,000 in credit card debt.

So someone can do the math. What these fools don't understand is that the tax increase will be broad based, encompassing the very rich to those earning $48,000. The key remains future unfunded liabilities and real cuts in government spending, which will never happen. The joke is that replacing well paying manufacturing jobs with low paying jobs will not be reversed until such time that corporate tax rates are reduced and multi nationals are permitted to repatriate post tax off shore earnings to invest in America.

Well, I guess you and I will have to disagree. I think that a Nation takes care of it's people who can't take care of themselves and force those who can and refuse into situations where they'll have to. You still have your private property....but that freedom you speak of isn't free.

***some of my property. The rest is being taken from me. Literally my labor is being taken from me. Literally anyone who receives a single cent from my tax money now has partial ownership of me and my time and my labor.

That freedom thing I speak of is free. If someone wants to invade and try to take it from me, I'll be happy to DONATE some money to the government to fend it off.

Well too fucking bad....welcome to civic responsibility. Get used to it.

I love that the "land of the free" has boiled down to people telling me to basically get fucked because I want to be free. Somewhere John Locke is crying.

John Locke was a stooge.....we all have civic responsibilities. I pay taxes without complaint because I know that is my civic responsibility. You, on the other hand, equate money with freedom. Freedom has little to do with money....it has to do with movement, speech, the ability to do pretty much what you want and to live life to the best of your abilities within the confines of our laws.

The idea that the money you earn should not be taxed because it violates.your freedom is ludicrous.

You're not hearing me. How do you think I acquire money? Do you think I just poop it out? The only people who get money without movement are the ones on welfare. They just wait for the mailman to show up. I make my money via MOVEMENT, via LABOR, and therefor taxing my money is taxing my movement and labor and unjust.

As far as Locke, you pretty much just shit on our entire constitution and the founders of our Republic as it was Locke more than any other political philosopher who guided their vision.

Not in a classical liberal representative republican government of We the People for our legislators make this decision for all of us.

Your argument, while philosophical, in nonsensical anyway.

Don't bother responding to me Jake, I refuse to discuss anything with you.

No more than Rightists who said a minority Bush presidency had a mandate.

Either we build consensus, or we are doomed to another four years of gridlock.

No.

Only when they've drastically cut spending can they then raise taxes. On everyone.

That's how it works, Democrats won the election taking both the presidency and the senate. We're doing things their way. You don't like that agenda, write your congressmen.

Sarah's idea of compromise: We won, fuck you Republicans, it's our way or the highway.

You believe that if they raise taxes they (government, both sides) will really and truly cut spending, enough to actually make a dent, don't you?

 Leftists sure are a funny lot.

Yeah....and I offered a solution to that.....but it doesn't matter to you.

As far as Locke? tough shit....this country is a different one than it was in in the 1600's....or even the late 1700's when the Constitution was written. If you think you can turn back the clock to those days where the land was in it's infancy, land was wide open and one could live by being a sustinence farmer without being beholden to the rest of the world? You may want to get checked out by a shrink....becuae you're delusional.

I will respond whenever I want, and I will continue to demolish your arguments.

s0n, you are not the boss of anybody.
