Biden’s bold statement was directly contradicted by State Department officials just this week, in testimony before a congressional panel and in unclassified cables released by a congressional committee.

“All of us at post were in sync that we wanted these resources,” said Eric Nordstrom, the top regional security officer in Libya earlier this year. A Utah national guardsman who led a security team, Lt. Col. Andrew Wood, said: “We felt great frustration that those requests were ignored or just never met.”

Clinton is directly in charge of security at all the Embassies. We don't have an Embassy Department. It's the state department. We know that more security was requested numerous times. We know that from many e-mails and cables sent by the Embassy. We know that when it became clear that the State Department had no intention of supplying additional security the personnel requested extraction. We know that didn't happen.

What's sad is that when Ambassador Stevens realized that he would neither be protected or extracted he was going to die.
