A good take on the republican party and the debate last night

Those in the reality-based community may laugh, but in Republican presidential politics, extremism is virtue

Is the way to watch the Republican debates tonight to set out a bowl of popcorn in the expectation that this conglomeration of candidates will produce truly memorable Comedy Central moments?

As Bill Schneider at Reuters put it, “Is 2016 the year of the Republican clown car?”

Dana Milbank of The Washington Post was quick to answer, “Clown car.” Politico’s Roger Simon said the “clown car has become a clown van.”

Sen. Ted Cruz is frying bacon on a rifle barrel. Sen. Lindsey Graham put his cellphone in a blender. Former Fox News host and ex-Gov. Mike Huckabee is running as the candidate of “Bubbaville.” Gov. Chris Christie is doing a Tony Soprano imitation, but fatter. Gov. Scott Walker claims that it’s God’s plan for him to run for president.

This is indeed the Silly Season – but the silliness shouldn't conceal the fact that there are serious issues in play for 2016, where for republicans extremism is a virtue that can jeopardize the civil rights of every American, increase the likelihood of more unwarranted, illegal wars, and allow for the implementation of policies predicated on failed conservative economic and social dogma – none of the republican candidates exhibit an understanding of, or desire to pursue, sound, responsible governance.

What is amusing is ANYONE taking ANY of this stuff when we are MORE than a YEAR out.

Today's issue will not necessarily be the issues the election is decided upon in a year. By this time next year half of these people may be out of the race. The cover hasn't been taken off of the semi-dormant Liberal 'politicis of Personal Destruction' machine yet.

If you really want to get into analyzing the candidates just for fun, let's do so:

Trump: He's the 'big dog' so far - the GOP's worse nightmare. He is a multi-millionaire who hates 'PC', speaks his mind, has enough money where he just doesn't give a F*, and he is giving voice to the people who are angry and who feel betrayed and un-represented. Instead of learning from this and trying to change, the GOP Establishment is looking to totally destroy him...can't have such a champion of the people, now can we?

Bush: The rich, elitist, self-seen 'heir to the throne' - like Hillary, he sees this as 'his turn'. He is all for illegal immigration, highly biased based on his wife, and is NOT listening to the American people at all on the issue....which helps him to fit right in with Boehner and McConnell. He talks really big behind people's back, calling Trump a 'clown' and an @-hole' before the debate yet proving he doesn't have the cahonies to say anything like trying to be Reagan-esquethat to the man's face.

Cruz: He is trying to be Reagan-esque, God bless him, but he just doesn't have that Ronald Reagan / John Wayne presence...maybe it's that nasal twang-thing

Jindal: Out of all the most highly talked about 'minorities/races' today, he is way down the chain. One friend of mine, who is not PC, said he believes it is Jindal trying to come across as John Wayne but instead is coming across as the guy who works at the 7-11 on the Simpsons... THAT is just wrong. It's funny, but it is just WRONG, too!

Carly Fiorina: She has some good ideas...but the media and the 'good ol' boys club' in the Republican party will never give her any consideration above possibly as a VP

Kasich: WHO? Yeah, exactly.....

Carson: He didn't get much of a chance at 1st, but when he did he did an excellent job..the man is a brain surgeon after all. The current President, by comparison, looks like a man who needs one. Carson is a little soft spoken, he is black (after Obama we may never see another black President for 40-50 years...if we exist that long as a nation), and the GOP - like with Fiorina - and the media will not give him a chance. If he starts getting popular the Libs will turn on him viciously ('Uncle Tom', I believe is their name of choice for intelligent blacks who choose to be Conservatives)

Paul: Said little, generated no excitement, slipping away...

Walker: Wasn't bad, too scripted, didn't seem nautral / free-flowing, trying to rush to get his points out in this debate that limited each candidate in time...these are debate technique issues...no major problems...he'll stick around

...We're a YEAR+ out...relax... if a 'debate' s being THIS scrutenized this far out, can you imagine what it will be like this time NEXT year? YIKES!

We saw proof of the contempt republicans have for Americans' civil rights, and the propensity of most on the right to lie, during the GOP 'debate' last night, when Rubio exhibited his ignorance of the law and hostility for privacy rights with his reference to “murdering millions of babies.”

Abortion is not 'murder,' an embryo/fetus is not a 'baby,' and all citizens have a right to privacy, immune from attack by the state, including women the right to decide whether to have a child or not.

Given his ignorance and contempt for the right to privacy, his outright lies concerning abortion, and his desire to increase the size and authority of government at the expense of individual liberty, Rubio does not merit the vote of any American, save those who share his contempt for the Constitution and its case law.
