I like this....I don't think I ever actually read the words to War Pigs....always just listened...but reading gives you a different perspective.

We're dating ourselves a bit here.....so this is what the new kids on the block are writing about war.

Hands Held High
by Linkin Park

Turn my mic up louder I got to say something
Lightweights step it aside when we come in

Feel it in your chest the syllables get pumping
People on the street they panic and start running

Words on loose leaf sheet complete coming
I jump in my mind and summon the rhyme, I'm dumping

healing the blind I promise to let the sun in
Sick of the dark ways we march to the drum and

Jump when they tell us that they wanna see jumping
Fuck that I wanna see some fists pumping

risk something, take back what's yours
Say something that you know they might attack you for

Cause I'm sick of being treated like I have before
Like it's stupid standing for what I'm standing for

Like this war's really just a different brand of war
Like it doesn't cater to rich and abandon poor

Like they understand you in the back of the jet
When you can't put gas in your tank

and these fuckers are laughing their way to
the bank cashing the check
Asking you to have compassion and have some respect

For a leader so nervous in an obvious way
Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay

And the rest of the world
watching at the end of the day
In their living room laughing like
"what did he say?"

[ Beginning of Chorus ]
Amen
Amen
Amen
Amen
Amen
[ End of Chorus ]

In my living room watching but I am not laughing
Cause when it gets tense I know what might happen

World is cold the bold men take action
Have to react to get blown into fractions

Ten years old there's something to see
Another kid my age drugged under the jeep

Taken and bound and found later under the tree
I wonder if he thought the next one could be me

Do you see the soldiers they're out today
They brush the dust from bulletproof vests away

It's ironic at times like this you pray
But a bomb blew up the mosque yesterday

There's bombs in the buses, bikes, roads
Inside your market, your shops, your clothes

My dad he's got a lot of fear I know
But enough pride inside not to let that show

My brother had a book he would hold with pride
A little red cover with a broken spine

On the back, he handwrote a quote inside
When the rich wage war it's the poor who die

Meanwhile, the leader just talks away
Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay

And the rest of the world
watching at the end of the day
"both scared and angry" like
"what did he say?"

Fighting For

Cross Canadian Ragweed

Well it's late, and you know I've been up drinkin,
Talkin to myself up and down the hall.
Ain't it great, another fabulous disaster.
Well I can't wait, for the next hammer to fall.

You may have won this battle baby,
But it don't mean I won't win the war.
And you, you don't even know what it is that you're fightin for.

Well it's early, I know you've been up waitin,
Waitin for me to finally call.
Talkin dirty, it ain't what you really wanted,
So slam another phone up against the wall.

You may have won this battle baby,
But it don't mean I won't win the war.
And you, you don't even know what it is that you're fightin for.

Well think about me when you're out there honey,
You know sometimes that I will.
Sometimes I feel like a broken stone rollin down your hill.

You may have won this battle baby,
But it don't mean I won't win the war.
And you, you don't even know what it is that you're fightin for.

Kill the Poor - Dead Kennedys

Efficiency and progress is ours once more
Now that we have the neutron bomb
Its nice and quick and clean and gets things done
Away with excess enemy
But no less value to property
No sense in war but perfect sense at home

The sun beams down on a brand new day
No more welfare tax to pay
Unsightly slums gone up in flashing light
Jobless millions whisked away
At last we have more room to play
All systems go to kill the poor tonight

Gonna
Kill kill kill kill kill the poortonight

Behold the sparkle of champagne
The crime rates gone
Feel free again
O lifes a dream with you, miss lily white
Jane fonda on the screen today
Convinced the liberals its okay
So lets get dressed and dance away the night

While they
Kill kill kill kill kill the poortonight

Catcher in the Rye

When all is said and done We're not the only ones Who look at life this way That's what the old folks say But every time I see them Makes me wish I had a gun If I thought that I was crazy Well I guess I'd have more fun

The Catcher In The Rye again Won't let you get away from him It's just another day like today

You decide Cause I don't have to And then they'll find And I won't ask you At any time Or long hereafter If the cold outside's As I'm imagining it to be

The Catcher In The Rye again Won't let you get away from him It's just another day like today

When all is said and done We're not the only ones Who look at life this way That's what the young folks say But every time I see them Makes me wish I had a gun If I thought that I was crazy Well I guess I'd have more fun

Cause what used to be's not there for me And ought to for someone That belongs insane Like I do

On an ordinary day Not in an ordinary way All at once the song I heard No longer would it play For anybody Or anyone That needed comfort from somebody Needed comfort from someone Who cared To be Not like you Unlike me And then the voices went away from me Somehow you set the wheels in motion That haunt our memories You were the instrument You were the one How a body took a body You gave that boy a gun You took our innocence Behind our stares Sometimes the only thing we counted on When no one else was there
