When I was looking at the list, I was surprised at how few really HUGE or great movies he has done...

cape fear is an excellent movie and scary as hell......plus it was big shoes to fill....robert mitchum did the 1962 version which was excellent too..

It's been a while since I've seen either. Looks like we are in for a snow event, so might be worth watching them both back to back....

I liked him best in Casino, but he was also great in Awakenings and Meet the Parents.

Stardust? I think that really showed the TRUE side of De, typical of all liberal men. Act tough but are wussies inside.

I hear rumors that he's a Rump-ranger....which is why he always got all of those parts.

De Niro hasn't been good since Casino, IMO. That said, Casino, The Deer Hunter, and Goodfellas are my favorites.

I thought he was better than Brando in playing Vito Corleone
While much was subtitled, he showed the struggle of a young immigrant fighting the corruption in his community and rising to a position of power

I also liked Raging Bull with a young Joe Pesci as his brother

De Niro hasn't been good since Casino, IMO. That said, Casino, The Deer Hunter, and Goodfellas are my favorites.

De Niro mails in a lot of his performances for a big paycheck
Kind of like Jack Nicholson

But he does has a great resume and has played iconic roles

I think the sexual assault scene in Cape Fear is pretty shocking......when he picks up Nick Nolte's friend and attacks her......one of the most disturbing scenes in a movie.

He bit her cheek.....yeah.....

One of his best movies....Godfather 2.....he wasn't "Robert Deniro" in that movie...he played it really quiet...
