Bernie Sanders Wants To Help the American People With Prescription Drug Costs

Not every drug has a generic and many times a company can't make a generic version until after several years when the original patent runs out. In the video they talk about the contracts with the U.S. government and drug manufacturers and how the manufacturers want an exclusive rights contract so that they are the only ones that can make the drug.
Patents are constitutionally granted. Holy shit batman

Many drugs are being developed by universities using FEDERAL TAX DOLLARS or buy places like the military using FEDERAL TAX DOLLARS... companies shouldn't be allowed to take drugs that have been developed by the federal government, and then price gouge the American people. It's fucking common sense, and I can see you still didn't watch the video.
I get what yall are saying. I am just pointing out that thing you fucking hate; The Constitution.
Federal Grants are Constitutional. Patents are Constitutional. Which one do you sacrifice for short sightedness?
Congress has the power to regulate Federal grants. Why not regulate it like that?
No i didnt watch that asswipe talk. I did, however, read the bill.

It has nothing to do with the patents and everything to do with the contracts between the government and universities that give the patents to the drug companies.
Then if they are being funded with grants, why cant congress put a clause in the contract that controls price? Then, you could MAKE them and it be constitutional.

This was answered in the video... it's because too many Congressmen are making money from pharmaceutical companies.

You bitch about the ENTIRE government... You do understand there are several different departments? Me complaining about Congressmen choosing to take what is basically a bribe from lobbyist for pharmaceutical companies instead of looking out for the American people, is not complaining about the entire government.

Ok, Congress is the only thing you complain about. You dont complain abotu other depts when they fuck up. Is that correct?

No. It's not. But I don't lump every department together.

Neither do i. 90% of em suck on their own merit.

This Bernie Sanders idea is excellent. This is what we must do. Every credit card offer should include a prescription drug coupon every time you spend on that credit card. This will be even more successful than the current savings cash back that you get on your credit card when you spend on it.

Sanders current fight, which would also really help overall healthcare costs and make Obamacare less expensive, is to make drug manufacturers charge less for drugs that they get a patent for that is developed by the U.S. government or through a U.S. university that developed the drug using tax payer money through grants. That to me seems like common sense that it should be that way, and a healthcare company should be able to just have the ability to price gouge the American people on a product that was developed by using American tax dollars.

Wouldn't it just be simpler to get rid of the patent protection?

Honestly, as a moderate conservative, the only person with a "D" next to their name that I can respect is Bernie Sanders.

When the rest of the Democrats can grow up and act like adults, then they'll have my respect too. If the Democrats could, they'd make swearing illegal.

Here is the solution of Bernie sanders, implemented successfully. Every time you make a purchase on your credit card, you get not only a cash back on your savings account, but also a drug coupon. How does this sound to you? Medical marihuana straight to you, benefit entitled, with every purchase.

Sanders wants to help the American people? Cuz Republicans don't. A policy of "let them die" doesn't seem very helpful.

Tell Sanders to write a personal check to help them if he cares as much as he claims. Why, if BERNIE cares, do all of his proposals involve someone else besides those benefiting doing something to help those unwilling to help themselves? When are the freeloaders that automatically demand government involvement to do something they're unwilling to do for themselves going to be responsible for themselves?

Of course the two faced asshole with no integrity wants to MAKE them.
The market would take care of it ifself if the government wasnt such a bureaucracy. The Fed govt is WHY they are so high.
Medicare cant negotiate price
"orphan drugs"
FDA raising development costs. In the last 15 years, because of new regulations, development costs have risen like 70%. Development costs are the biggest cost of drugs.
The market needs to be CONSUMER driven.
So short sighted and lazy.
That is what my Mexico Pharms said.

The purpose of government isn't helping people. Government makes laws and enforces them. It can't "help" people. All it can do is pass laws forcing people to help others against their will.

I would look into that "moderate conservative" thing. If you respect what Bernie does, you're a socialist just like Bernie.

A moderate conservative has a few Democratic views combined with mostly Republican views. I don't agree with socializing college or giving out free cell phones to people who don't work.

Does that mean you'd vote for a Democrat if they supported issues unrelated to those items you listed if you agree with them on those issues?

You mean turn into a John McCain?

I vote for what I believe in, but I'm not a Democrat posing as a Republican.

If one wants to propose socialized medicine, they better have a plan that's laid out with extreme thoroughness... I would need to know how much the tax increase is, if it'll help the national debt, if it'll lower the average cost of healthcare per person, and how much it'll change the salaries of doctors. In addition to that, I'd like to know how much the yearly increases or decreases of the coverage would be.

If it is researched and even one of those points above isn't fulfilled in a positive manner, I am not for socialized medicine. For example, a $100/week increase in taxes for someone making $45,000 a year is unacceptable and I would not vote for such a bill if that were to happen, since that is still costing that person $400/month for healthcare. Now if it were a 4% tax increase or a $35 a week increase, I would be more willing to vote for it, since now that person's plan is only $140 a month. Of course the taxable percentage would be scaled based on your income (the rich pay more).

If socialized medicine isn't a good proposal based on the above, I'm for getting rid of the insurance companies entirely. When everyone stops going to the doctor because they don't want to pay for their routine checkup, blood work, shots, surgeries, etc., up front and out of pocket, then the prices will go down a lot since the demand isn't there anymore. At the same time, employers no longer will have an obligation to offer health insurance plans (currently required by law) which makes the cost of doing business less.

All I need to know is that it's socialized medicine. Socialized medicine can't be good proposal by it's nature.

My question wasn't meant to trick. It was straight forward. Would you vote for a Democrat if they supported issues unrelated to socializing college or giving out free cell phones if you agreed with them on those issues?
