Bernie Sanders unveils plan to boost broadband access, break up internet and cable titans

Bernie Sanders unveiled a plan Friday to expand broadband internet access as part of a push to boost the economy and reduce corporate power over Americans.

In his sprawling “High-Speed Internet for All” proposal, the Vermont senator and Democratic presidential candidate calls to treat internet like a public utility. His campaign argues that the internet should not be a “price gouging profit machine” for companies such as Comcast, AT&T and Verizon.

Yes they should be broken up. Money is political power in our corrupt government. These huge corporations have enormous political power. They are influencing elections, not the Russians.

We need another Teddy Roosevelt to break up these big corporations. Alas, I’m dreaming.

Just another Bernie's going to conjure up some more free shit out of thin air, pie in the sky proposal, somebody needs to keep the old guy away from the opioids.

Apparently nobody has stopped by his Dacha and let him know that we're broke and don't have the resources to fund his game of fantasy based economics.:cool:

Yeah...the free stuff is reserved for the 1%. They deserve it. They get socialism but the rest of us, well, we are on our own.

What a great system!

"For all" should be the delusional moonbats campaign slogan

You're kidding, right?

The whole system is nothing but get it now, somebody else will pay for it later VOTE BUYING by every level of the economic ladder, nobody wants to sacrifice anything for the long term good.

Our National Motto should change from "In God We Trust" to "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme"

Doesn’t really matter at this point. The government just prints the money. Why not give it to the poor and middle class, rather than the 1%?

As I have noted before, the U.S. Constitution gave Congress the power “To establish Post Offices and post Roads” in Article I, Section 8.

Given that the internet has largely replaced the postal service, it would be a logical modern extension of the Constitution for Congress to establish a federal internet service.

They do give it to the poor and middle class, it's just that it's in the form of debt.Real wages aren't rising due to the effects of inflation so the plutocrats are giving the rabble the next best thing to maintain living standards, debt slavery.

However, Bernie's proposal is just another idiotic gub'mint control scam to have the federal government compete with private industry pursuant to VOTE BUYING. Contrary to what Bernie thinks people don't have a RIGHT to Internet Access and the Federal Government doesn't have the Constitutional Authority to set up it's own little monopoly to drive private industry out a given sector just because politicians like Bernie Sanders want to control it.

Yeah they give crumbs, while giving trillions to the 1%. We just can’t afford HC for all Americans, but we can afford trillion dollar wars and massive transfers of wealth to the rich.

Actually we can't afford either;

Health care is un-affordable because we're fat slobs that eat garbage and don't exercise thus creating demand for health care services that is outstripping supply.

We can't afford to keep being the policeman for the globe, because we simply cannot afford to pay the tab in blood & treasure, we only keep doing it because;

Bernie's plan would just end up being yet ANOTHER wealth transfer scheme from the lower echelons of the economic stratum to the upper because that's what federal government "programs" inevitably do. Government is the tool of the rich & the powerful, why would anyone want to voluntarily give it MORE POWER than it already has? At least the telecoms are constrained by competition, not as much as they would be without crony capitalism but still SOMEWHAT.

Free stuff implies that taxpayer money isn't paying for it...…

Giving more taxpayer money to the middle class and even the lower class results in a larger benefit to the overall economy than giving it all to the top 1%

100% of that tax payer money goes back into the economy when you give it to the middle class...we know that isn't the case when you give it to the top 1%

Can you imagine if Michelle Obama tried to encourage healthy eating habits among children by saying "we're fat slobs that eat garbage and don't exercise thus creating demand for health care services that is outstripping supply"??

..but she didn't say any of that shit you just said, but she did try to encourage healthy eating and exercise habits amongst young people -- and trumpers were still pissed about it....
