Bennigans Closed Immediately!!

Amusing.

Did you know that the secgment of the population having the most difficulty finding jobs is recent college grads?

There are exceptions to that of course, for those with technical degees, but the majority of people with liberal arts, or humanities, social services, basically those who man the ranks of all other types of jobs it takes to run a viable society are scrambling to find work that pays a living starting wage.

And as I find more and more people with low level technical degrees also scrambling, all I can think is that the problems are getting worse for all of us regardless of what we studied.

It a "who you know", not a "what you know" world of employment increasingly.

Less and less decent jobs (when compared to the population overalll, I mean) while more and more of us are educating ourelves (and borrowing to do so, I might add) in the hopes of finding decent employment in our areas of study.

Why do you think there are so damned many lawyers?

We're not all going to be propellor heads.

Society needs some balance or the whole thing starts to fall apart.

You'll see, if you don't see yet, what I'm talking about.

Wow! What a concept. Those that lack the skills that business needs have a higher level of unemployment. The job market is FLOODED with all the worthless degrees in sociology, history, language, music, art.... Business needs ENGINEERS, they need COMPUTER PROGRAMMERS, they need marketers skilled in stochastic modeling, i.e. they need TECHNICAL people who have actual ability in MATHEMATICS, CALCULUS, STATISTICAL ANALYSIS.... all the "hard" stuff most college students are TOO LAZY to work at. The stuff business needs is the HARD stuff. But the lazy gen-xer's aren't interest in hard things.

Tough shit. Sociologists, and mush brained artists are worthless to business. Engineers, market analysts, programmers, are what we need. If you have a degree in composition, sociology, history....get a job as a waiter because we in business have NO USE FOR YOU!!!!

:lol::lol::lol:
Jesus... your blindness never stops, does it?

I guess it was a MAJOR blow to the US economy when Roy Rogers Restaurants closed even more restaurants. Or when Montgomery Wards went tits up. Or when Hechingers disappeared.

Give me a break with you obvious shallow attempt to bash a Republican or Conservative administration/politician/view :eusa_boohoo:
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
How many freaking businesses go belly up? There is a lot regardless of the economic times.

Society gets and society supports what it needs...

No need for the socialist or communist action of forcing society to get what the elites think they need...

Oooh... people who went to college studying Sanskrit or poetry or the social interaction between frogs and people aren't finding jobs... Let me try and shed a tear

But that does not stop the liberal college elitists and their arrogance in putting forth their liberal agenda as supreme because they know "best" because of their little infatuations with Marx and the communist manefesto

Could not have said it better. We need people who have HARD SKILLS! The ability to create a stochastic model, the know what Boltzmann distribution is, that understand the concepts of "Net Present Value", that know what Classloaders are and why they are important to a Java Application Server application. we don't give a shit about the sociological impact of drugs on inner city youth....

It takes more than technology and business skills to have a civilization sport.

And MBAs are a dime a dozen, now.

You'll see...as the quality of life in America continues to go down the crapper, perhaps you'll figure finally it out.

I am a very high level technical expert in the most sought after skills in global business. I am doing VERY WELL and have absolutely NO FEAR of economic downturn because what I do is in EXTREME SHORTAGE and in high demand. I can command a very high dollar value for my skills and those skills are going to be in demand for a VERY LONG time. I am thus almost ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEED a very HANDSOME income for as long as I want to work.

But what i have is EXTREMELY HARD to obtain. It requires an almost unfathomable amount of work and study to attain and maintain that skill set. As a result of that tremendous amount of self study, i command a top level compensation and almost dictate my price.

Most, almost all simply TOO LAZY to ever dedicate themselves to the perfection of those skills. And that is why I can almost dictate my income to anyone. I posses that which others are willing to pay a fortune for, but i come by those skills through almost daily effort of 4-8 hours of personal improvement effort on top of my work day to perfect.

If you do not get that fundamental concept then you are simply too stupid to be allowed to live. Bottom line, I am worth every penny i can command because I put in the work and almost no one else on the planet is willing to do that.

Also takes wayyyy more than a lazy liberal entitlement system based on the story of Robin Hood, sport

American quality of life is not going to disappear or "go down the crapper"... even if Obama and his basis on Marxism and the Communist Manifesto gets in to office with his approach/programs that go against Maslow's hierarchy of needs.... coddling to people who already think, and getting people who already think that they are entitled to something because they want or need it... thinking that when they spend their earnings (or handouts in many cases) on aesthetic needs, that those providing physiological needs should be then forced by the elitists in government to provide those things to them

Even that won't put us down the crapper in the long run... because those living in reality will eventually get that leftist crap OUT

Also takes more than parroting of extremist right wing viewpoints, starting with the "lazy liberal" garbage taken right from Rush Limbaugh's playbook.

The problem with people on the fringes... and I mean the fringes on both sides.... is there's no nuanced thought. These are complex issues and mindless repetition like that in your post is really no analysis at all.

Though I'm sure it represents your opinion, something to which you're absolutely entitled.

And the above emboldened statement is a perfect example of why those social sciences and humanities, which you apparently have contempt for, are so necessary to creating a viable society.

Congrats on your education their market value, BTW.

So you're a stripper?

Let's compare and contrast Bush's economy to Clintons. Bush had two recessions. One you want to blame on Clinton, and the second one you don't want to blame on Bush?

Here is a story from the Onion back in 1998. Keep in mind this year Starbucks is closing 500 stores

New Starbucks Opens In Rest Room Of Existing Starbucks
June 27, 1998 |

CAMBRIDGE, MA—Starbucks, the nation's largest coffee-shop chain, continued its rapid expansion Tuesday, opening its newest location in the men's room of an existing Starbucks.

"Coffee lovers just can't stand being far from their favorite Starbucks gourmet blends," said Chris Tuttle, Starbucks vice-president of franchising. "Now, people can enjoy a delicious Frappuccino or espresso just about any time they please, even while defecating."

The new men's-room-based Starbucks, the coffee giant's 1,531st U.S. location, will be open to both men and women when not "in use." In addition to offering specialty coffees from around the world, it will serve freshly baked pastries, Italian pannini sandwiches and soups, as well as the rest room's usual selection of toilet paper and soap.

"This is a great addition," said Jonathan Connolly, a Boston-area banker who tried out the new Starbucks Tuesday. "I was enjoying my usual triple mocha latté in the main Starbucks, and I had to go to the bathroom, where three people were in line to use the stalls. The wait might have been a problem, but, to my great pleasure, there was another Starbucks right there, ready to serve me more delicious coffee. And the baristas were helpful and courteous."

Connolly added that after he finished drinking his coffee and using the bathroom, he stayed for a poetry reading near the urinals.

"I was a little bit worried about the new restaurant cutting into our business," said Dave Grobelkowski, manager of the original Starbucks. "But the only people going there are ones who have already purchased items from us anyway. And if we run out of stirrers or cream, we can just go to the bathroom and borrow some."

According to Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, the new location represents the beginning of a long-term expansion plan.

"Eventually, Starbucks rest rooms everywhere will sell coffee," Schultz said. "But that ambitious scheme is at least five years down the road. In the meantime, we plan to open an additional location in this Starbucks' ladies' room within months, and are already drafting plans for a fourth restaurant along the corridor leading from the main seating area to the rest rooms. At some point a 'Star-bucks Express' window will eventually open in the walk-in closet of the men's room Starbucks."

"Drink our coffee," Schultz said. "Drink it."

I love the Onion! Did you read this?

Although a sluggish market has forced many large-format retailers to scale back their operations and even close locations, Linens-N-Shit insists that the economy will not prevent the store from providing the consumer with superior quality linens, storage and organizational shit, framed crap, and some foreign-made designer bullshit.

"We've always had a simple strategy of selling shit and linens to people, and we don't intend to stop now," CEO Henry Considine said. "This company has weathered both the credit crisis and the housing-market crash, because no matter how bad the economy gets, consumers will always continue to buy shit."
