Tom Price Reportedly Spent $60,000 on Private Jets Last Week

Just watched this on TV. They said one Price private jet ride cost $25,000.00 when it could have been a $92.00 car ride round trip.

We've already gone over Trump's golf weekends and the hundreds of thousands spent.

Mnuchin asked to use a government jet for his honeymoon

Another trip by Mnuchin and his wife to Kentucky last month is already under review by the Treasury Department's Inspector General.

Jaws dropped in August when Linton posted a picture of herself on Instagram stepping out of a U.S. government plane. She had tagged a series of luxury designers such as Hermes, Tom Ford and Valentino to describe her expensive clothing. Social media pounced on the post and called it ostentatious.

Trump on pace to surpass 8 years of Obama's travel spending in 1 year - CNNPolitics

The Trump family travel costs and lavish expenditures by the numbers

Fact Check: Are President Trump's trips to Mar-a-Lago similar to Obama's travels?

President Barack Obama is visiting Asia this week. Conservative bloggers and talk-radio hosts (Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and so on) and tea party darling Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) claim that his trip is costing taxpayers a staggering $200 million a day. (Some also claim that the Navy is dispatching 34 ships and an aircraft carrier to support the mission.

----------------------------------

OK, so you can't compare any of this to Obama, Bush or the Clintons.

And remember when Republicans and USMB Republicans lied about Obama taking a 200 million dollar a day trip? I do.

Trump stands alone. Trump wants to cut money to help the poor, cut food stamps, cut healthcare while him and his Goldman and Sacs minions live "High on the Hog". But still, we all know, USMB Republicans, of course, have a defense. A nonsensical defense, but a defense nevertheless. Can't wait to hear what it is.

Remember, the Trump Administration base believes he will "help" them. Ha! If it weren't so sad, it would be funny.

Obama's trips were for golf outings. President Trump was/ is for working to make America great again.

Oh, so that's how it works. When the black guy plays golf, it's an "outing" but when the white guy plays golf, it's
"work".

You've left me speechless. How do you argue with that?

Still no charity money from leftover Trump inaugural funds

Take a look at this from fuking FOX news. Trump raised double what Obama raised for his inauguration. Obama famously used the leftover money for charity. There wasn't much because it was so big.

Trump raised double but only spent a quarter because his was so small. And he promised to give leftover funds to charity.

So how much did they get? Oops, they are still waiting.

What do you want to bet the money is paying for the first family's lawyers?

They could have allowed Ron Paul to audit Fort Knox gold for free! Mnuchin didn't even do it after we paid him to!

Tom Price Reportedly Spent $60,000 on Private Jets Last Week
Tom Price? Who's he? Oh, wait, do you mean Tom "Pot calling the kettle black" Price? That guy? Now I know whom you had in mind.

Who doesn't like flying on private charters? No lines. No security. Use your computer and your phone. Everything about flying that way is more convenient and considerably more comfortable.

Tom "We need to cut it from four jets to zero jets" Price's private jet travel was, however, quite surprising given his past remarks on the matter.

We have learned:

The secretary's five flights, which were scheduled between Sept. 13 and Sept. 15, took him to a resort in Maine where he participated in a Q&A discussion with a health care industry CEO, and to community health centers in New Hampshire and Pennsylvania, according to internal HHS documents.
Source
- Spet. 20th

Many of the flights are between large cities with frequent, low-cost airline traffic, such as a trip from Washington to Nashville that the secretary took on June 6 to make a morning event at a medication distributor and an afternoon speech. There are four regular nonstop flights that leave Washington-area airports between 6:59 a.m. and 8:50 a.m. and arrive in Nashville by 9:46 a.m. CT. Sample round-trip fares for those flights were as low as $202, when booked in advance on Orbitz.com. Price’s charter, according to HHS’ contract with Classic Air Charter, cost $17,760.

...

Price took a Learjet-60 from San Diego to the Aspen Ideas Festival — a glamorous conference at the Colorado resort town — that arrived at 3:33 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, June 24, nearly 19 hours before his scheduled panel. That flight likely cost more than $7,100, according to one charter jet agency estimate.

...

Many of Price’s trips have centered on making announcements related to the use of opioids and holding listening sessions about the epidemic, which Trump labeled a national emergency and continues to contribute to rising death rates from drug abuse. Price has labeled fighting the opioid epidemic one of his top priorities. But rather than fly commercially to these events, which are scheduled well in advance, Price tends to rent corporate-style jets. Sometimes, he ferries big-name guests along with him.
Source - Sept 21st

Price's spokesperson's so-called explanation for his using private jets falls flat.

"The secretary has taken commercial flights for official business after his confirmation. He has used charter aircraft for official business in order to accommodate his demanding schedule. The week of September 13 was one of those times, as the secretary was directing the recovery effort for Irma, which had just devastated Florida, while simultaneously directing the ongoing recovery for Hurricane Harvey ... Some believe the HHS secretary should be Washington-focused. Dr. Price is focused on hearing from Americans across the country."
Source

Consider this:
  • 17 of the 24 charter flights Price took came before Harvey hit Houston
  • The usual explanation from politicians when caught using private jets is that there were simply no commercial airline flights available to get them where they needed to go. Well, that won't work for Price:
    • On one of his trips -- a sprint from Dulles International Airport to Philadelphia International Airport, a distance of 135 miles -- there was a commercial flight that departed at roughly the same time: Price's charter left Dulles at 8:27 a.m., and a United Airlines flight departed for Philadelphia at 8:22 a.m., according to airport records.
      Source
  • "Some believe the HHS secretary should be Washington-focused. Dr. Price is focused on hearing from Americans across the country."
    • Implication: Price thinks he should get out of Washington and interact with "regular" people (maybe not so "regular") from around the country; therefore he needs to travel by private jet to do so.
      • That is one hell of a leap: It's important to meet with a wide variety therefore a private jet is needed to do so. Really?
      • On commercial airplanes there are lots of regular Americans from across the country, especially in the coach-class seats.
  • In 2009, Price was among the Congresspersons who vehemently opposed expenditures in the hundreds of millions of dollars for several private planes that would ferry members of Congress. (In the video that opens this post, watch Price carry on about private planes.)

Republicans in general also sought to make political hay out of then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi's alleged use of a 757 to jet her across the country to her San Francisco district. Those charges were largely debunked.

What did USMB members have to say about private jet use by government officials? Here are some threads to refresh memories (you can look through them to see who said what):

This is also not the first time -- this month! -- that a Trump administration official has faced criticism for his flying habits. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin was battered last week by reports that he had inquired into the possible use of a government plane for his honeymoon. He insisted it was only a preliminary request driven by national security concerns.

When the wrap on the president and his administration is that it's a bunch of rich white guys who are totally out of touch with how regular people live (even while insisting they are the voice of the people), it's not a good look to be flying on private planes. As Chris Cillizza wrote, "When you are a government official -- who is not the President of the United States -- you have to be smart enough to realize that jetting around on private, um, jets sends exactly the wrong message to the people paying your salary. There's nothing more elitist and upper-crusty than a private jet. It's like a scene out of "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous."

It's definitely not the inexpensive way to travel.

Have Trump and his minions stopped living high on the hog with taxpayer money or are they just learning how to hide it better.

Course, after this tax bill, they have so many new millions, it might not matter.

But I don't know, these a$$ Wholes are greedy.
