Glenn Beck dropped by New York's WOR radio station over poor ratings, replaced by Mike Gallagher

Glenn Beck may be one of the hottest talk show hosts in the country, but he apparently left New York's WOR cold.

WOR (710 AM), one of the city's two biggest talk radio stations, said this morning it is dropping Beck's syndicated show as of Jan. 17 and replacing him with a familiar New York name: Mike Gallagher.

"The reason is ratings," said WOR program director Scott Lakefield. "Somewhat to our surprise, the show wasn't getting what we wanted."

*shrug*

Beck's a loon, but don't read too much into this.

Beck makes a better book than he does on a talk show. In my market Rush Limbaugh is on at the same time so Beck does not have a chance.

Good books buy not great, I do not like a book with out an index.

It doesn't really have anything to do with Beck.

WABC is a powerhouse owned by Citadel.

WOR is the 90 lb weakling owned by Buckley Broadcasting.

Analogy: It's like putting Shaq on a high school basketball team, and then blaming Shaq when they lose anyway to the Harlem Globetrotters. *shrug* It really doesn't have anything to do with Shaq.

It's only a matter of time now.

By 2012 he will be dropped from FOX.

If he passes then, whenever a CON is in Office Beck will lose relevance...RAPIDLY!

Just learned that he's being replaced by Mike Gallagher...another Nazi, but at least a bit more sane one.

Is this on your "Wish List"? Because, I really don't know how you can say that with any sincerity, or knowledge.

The same radio intelligentsia said that about all talk radio 20 years ago.

He can't.

This isn't a station dropping Beck the person. This is a station dropping Beck the program.

Big difference. ROI wasn't high enough to justify continuing to pay Beck. Hard for it to be when you see what that station is up against.

Well probably. Not really because of who holds office..it's that FOX is saturated with the same sort of material. Eventually one of them has to go.

Hopefully Hannity goes down next.

And yes, Meister...it's a wishlist of mine. To see Beck completely off the air and irrelevant.

Replaced by Mike Gallagher? lol, he's one of the douchiest of the douchebag herd of cookie cutter Limbaugh imitators that jumped on the rightwing radio bandwagon.

As much as I have enjoyed and valued Glenn Beck these past two years, uncovering the truths in politics and the progressive movement and for increasing our interest in, and bringing our attention back to the real history of our nation, in my opinion, his time is up. I have chosen these past few weeks not to listen to his program often, but consider his contribution to "faith, hope and charity" and history, with focus on integrity and the founders and framers of our nation and the brilliant Constitution, an award-winning program. I love Glenn Beck and admire his many worthwhile efforts.

Great news - the markets work!

We don't need the FCC to decide what programming is appropriate for us.
