He's a U.S. Army soldier assigned to MacDill Air Force Base and lives not far from the base at Dale Mabry Hwy. and Interbay Blvd.

Police say Sunday morning, at around 3 a.m., the soldier's car broke down a few miles from home along Westshore Blvd.

The attack came when he was walking home and using Iowa St. to get from Westshore to Dale Mabry. At the intersection of Iowa and Renellie Dr., the man came into the view of a neighbor's motion-activated security camera.

TAMPA, Fla. - Tampa Police have arrested two in the brutal beating and robbery of a US CentCom soldier stationed at MacDill Air Force Base. Two others are still on the loose.

Johnny Aparicio, a 24-year-old Army soldier assigned to US CentCom was jumped at Iowa Avenue and Reneille Road early Sunday morning by three men, who were later joined by a fourth. Aparicio was walking home after his car broke down in South Tampa.

Tampa Police spokesperson Andrea Davis said Geroshe Lewis, 18, was arrested at Robinson High School, where he is a student. Lerome Howard, also 18, has an extensive criminal history, according to Davis.

Police said tips led to the arrests. Apparently, one of them had talked about the beating, and the information eventually made it back to detectives.

One suspect has been remorseful, the other one has not been at all.

Davis said police are closing in on other two attackers. "I would be fearful if I were them."

The vicious beating was captured on tape by a neighbors surveillance camera (scroll down to see the raw surveillance video).
