The supposed ‘consensus’ on man-made global warming is facing an inconvenient challenge after the release of new temperature data showing the planet has not warmed for the past 15 years.

The figures suggest that we could even be heading for a mini ice age to rival the 70-year temperature drop that saw frost fairs held on the Thames in the 17th Century.

Based on readings from more than 30,000 measuring stations, the data was issued last week without fanfare by the Met Office and the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit. It confirms that the rising trend in world temperatures ended in 1997.

Request this thread be moved to environment. Or conspiracy theories. I swing that way

Ahh well this changes everything. A chart covering the whole of 15 years and starting on an abnormally warm year indicates no warming. Ya don't say.

You remain one of the stupidest shitheads on the board, and I think you should go away now.

Well it would be interesting to know if among the 30,000 measuring stations, 12.5% of the land mass was included!

"The IEA said it was necessary to recalculate all global-temperature data in order to assess the scale of such exaggeration.
"The number of [Siberian ] stations increased from 8 in 1901 to 23 in 1951 and then decreased to 12 from 1989 to present. Only four stations, those at Irkutsk, Bratsk, Chita and Kirensk, cover the entire 20th century.

IEA analysts say climatologists use the data of stations located in large populated centers that are influenced by the urban-warming effect more frequently than the correct data of remote stations…

The scale of global warming was exaggerated due to temperature distortions for Russia accounting for 12.5% of the world’s land mass.

The IEA said it was necessary to recalculate all global-temperature data in order to assess the scale of such exaggeration.

So if 12.5% of all the land mass was left out, wouldn't that skew the temperature readings i.e. ONLY warmer urban areas were included???

Typical of those on the left who are selling dooms day scenarios to ask anyone who questions their Ideas to "go away"

We have a new Weather monitoring station up here where I live in Northern Michigan. It's a joke, the chose a spot in an other wise sparsely populated Area, that is right at the corner of the busiest intersection for 200 Miles in any Direction, in the Center of the only Urban Heat Island around.

Yeah, and that means that the area is likely going to become developed, which will only further exacerbate the heat island effect.

All the warmist have is a 15 to 20 year trend that ended. So I suggest if you live in glass house you watch where you throw those stones.

It indicates no warming for the last 15 years. Of course, the dishonest technique if averaging in temperatures over the last 40 years does show warming - over the last 40 year. However, taking selective slices of the data is an old propaganda technique that liberals excel at.

Here, dumb fuck, is the real story;

UAH Global Temperature Update for Dec. 2011: +0.13 deg. C « Roy Spencer, Ph. D.

Note that most of the running average after 1998 is above the highest running averages prior to 1998. That is some cooling, silly ass.

Here is 30,001. The ground has not frozen here yet this winter and it is the end of January!

LOL. The dumbass has not even noted that the global average for Dec. 2011 is above all the running average high points prior to 1998. Myths has to be one of the dumbest posters here.

Ol' Teatime strikes out again. Dr. Muller in the BEST report states that the urban stations reporting, because of the way they are put into the data base, actually have a tendency to push the average down a miniscule amount.
