I doubt if Goldwater would have used the insulting term "bible thumpers". LBJ might have and the degenerate Texan might have exposed himself while he was doing it. Goldwater was my first presidential vote. But were he alive today he would be nuanced enough to understand that Romney has no prejudice against gays, simply redefining "marriage," as does a huge majority uf the US electorate.

One would hope Goldwater would also recognize your error: allowing same-sex couples access to marriage law isn’t ‘redefining marriage,’ it’s simply obeying the Constitution.
