I think unions work for a factory not a government ran agency. When I was younger I worked at the city park and Kmart, the two were completly different. To do about the same job the city had three people at Kmart they had one.
Whoever is President needs to figure out a way to go through every department from top to bottom and clean house!

You know Luissa IMO its a great idea to conduct a BUR, a Bottoms Up Review of the DoD. Not in an attempt to seek money to divert to other departments, but to actually put in place a professional process that aquires the very best in Military hardware and services to the warfighter. Further, the DoD needs to revisit this outsourcing of Military responsibilities 3rd party contractors in many area's. IMHO this also drives up cost, and causes yet another level of red tape that the warfighter must go through that is completely not needed.

It would be irresponsible of us... to not do a thorough review of the DOD spending and find the MOST efficient and productive way to make the military the most powerful in the world. (But NOTE! This does not mean we need to be the most powerful TIMES A HUNDRED than the rest of the entire world, there MUST be some perspective in order to be efficient)

Oh and the spending the money on other things is just partisan bunk imo...

you see, every time someone talks about cutting Defense spending the same ole same ole rumors get spread around, BY THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX, which put many that support the Military in to a tizzy...all bunk...seen it too many times to think it is not bunk...

Care , one of the primary reasons why I put the Boeing, EADS tanker example up for people to read is to give them some idea and a real appreciation of exactly why the DoD spends literally billions and never gets anything for those billions. Here is a little history for you too, the DoD Base Closing Committee recommends which facilities are to be closed and then goes about shutting them down. There is a facility called Kelly A.F.B. in San Antonio Tx. that was officially closed by that very same committee, however if you were to drive down Military Drive in San Antonio and look you would see it busy as every with 3rd party contractors now. In orther words the depot repair work the Military used to do is now being done by the private sector and in many cases for more money. That is an example of how the DoD functions.

We marvel at all the wiz bang technology that the Military deploys in the field , however what many don't realize is this hardware wears out and it's constant usage and it's age is getting critical. Did you know that the Air Force's two main front line fighter aircraft are 1970's designs , I could go on and on on this topic, but in the end, this process of purchasing has become so perverse with graft that the warfighter is starting to see the results in the field and it will not get better until someone has the skills and nisight to fix it.
