Bachmann VS. Paul On Iran - Fox Iowa Debate...

Why do you hate Freedom & Liberty so much? You sound just like those Terrorists who supposedly hate us for our Freedoms. What the hell happened to you man? You need to dump the Neocons. They're rotting your brain with their insane mentality. Your own Government now seems to hate you more for your Freedoms than any Terrorist does. You need to open your eyes and really see. 911 happened ten years ago for God's sake. How much more can Big Brother milk it? It's time to move on. It's time to take our Freedom & Liberty back.

I'm as free as I've ever been. Why don't you stop being a bitch and offer me some solid proof of Americans who have been robbed of personal freedoms.

I know why............YOU CAN'T.

I guess you really are doomed to stay in your Neocon Hell forever. Enjoy getting your ass handed to you by the Socialists/Progressives in 2012. You guys definitely deserve it. You've completely demolished the Republican Party. You chased off most of the real Conservatives. Now look at your party? Romney/Gingrich?? Yea good luck with that. Obama and the Democrats are salivating at the thought of crushing those two stiffs. What a joke.

like I said u got nuthin. Hyperbole

It's a weird feeling agreeing with a Republican about something. It's like when you see a hot chick and she turns around and it's a guy.

The thing is that Paul manages to take a reasonable proposition- that there really isn't all that much we can do to stop Iran from getting a nuke and it isn't a big deal if they have one- and makes it sound crazy.

There is an argument to be made that the US can't be the world's policeman anymore when we are running up debts of 1.5 trillion a year, and that we should step back and let others step up. We spend more on our military than the rest of the world combined and the next 10 biggest spenders are our allies.

Unfortunately, Paul makes it sound like he's expecting Black Helicopters to fly over your house to track the microchip in your butt.

This is an inconvenient truth.

Imagine if Iran were flying drones over America - the Michelle Bachmanns of the world would be trying to nuke Tehran.

Yup.. to clarify, I was referring to the unfortunate fact that Ron Paul isn't a great salesman for the truth he's trying to get across. I continue to support him, because he's pretty much the only one on the national stage trying to get the message out there. But I sure as hell wish he didn't sound like a nut while he's doing it.

I suspect, as the libertarian movement grows, Republicans and Democrats will find quite a bit to agree about.

That's a very wise observation. Neo-Conservatism is dying. Their numbers are thinning for sure. True Conservatives will will take the party back eventually. I'm already seeing so many recovering Neocons these days. Many have now had it with the current Republican Party's Democrat-Light stance. It's getting so hard to tell the difference between a Neocon and a Socialist/Progressive these days. Their policies are so similar. Once Romney/Gingrich get their asses handed to them by the Democrats, the Neocon glory days will be over for good. Unfortunately we will have to watch the Obama anihilation of them on Election Day though. But hopefully things will begin to change for the better afterwards. I hope so anyway.

While I appreciate the compliment, I was actually making the opposite observation. Democrats and Republicans, in them main, are pretty thoroughly neo-con in approach. And they both agree on corporatism as their favored vehicle to achieve their goals. Libertarians may peel of some Republicans (though if we're really going to get anywhere we need to go after liberty-minded Democrats as well), but as we do, the Republican and Democrat leadership will join forces to fight us. We're seeing some of this now, but we'll see more if the movement continues to grow.

Perhaps it is. But it's not one people really want to hear right now. Especially not in the Republican Party, which is still the party of military strength.

And again, Paul isn't saying these things in a way that sound particularly rational or persusive. Quite the opposite, he's like the guy who tells his friend he needs to lose weight by calling him "fatso".

Yeah, I wasn't clear. I was agreeing with your point.

I suspect in a few years there will be many more recovering Neocons switching over to the Ron Paul camp. Especially after the Neocons get their asses handed to them in 2012. Romney/Gingrich?? Yea they have a chance. Sure they do. What a joke.

A joke indeed since Paul will be dead in a few years. This is his last chance.
