Ayn Rand vs Christianity

As a christain do you believe our government should reflect your beliefs?

Nope, I believe the government should stay out of my life.
Always?

No laws against theft or murder?

If I do not steal or murder anyone I have no need to worry about laws regarding those things, do I? I do, however, have to worry about the fact that it is impossible to breathe in this country without breaking a law.

The government should stay out of my life.

havent read her, let alone worshiped her ideas. I have no idea what she says right now, im not in a particular rush to find out. I have other things im studying.

But did you ever think that maybe more people than just Christians agree with what she says?
You....much like Sarah Palin....should consider brushing-up on your reading-skills, from-time-to-time.

"....Objectivism, the philosophy of Ayn Rand, provides a code of morality suitable for living successfully and happily on earth. Objectivism holds that reality is real, that reason is man's only means of knowing it and that one should act in one's own rational self-interest, with rationality being the highest virtue. Life is the objective standard of morality. In contrast, Christianity asserts that reality is governed by supernatural forces, that knowledge is based on faith and that the highest moral virtue is self-sacrifice. It will be shown that Christianity cannot be practiced consistently, destroys the integriity of man's mind, and is incompatible with living successfully and happily in the real world."

Who knew that Randers were heathens??????

Ayn Rand and Christians? Big conflict if you really follow Jesus's teachings but easy to reconcile if you're a 'conservative Christian'. Although there are genuine Christians even among those ranks, the fact is that many of the conservatives who publicly profess to be 'Christian' are actually worshipers of the Almighty Dollar, the Holy Profit, and the Sacred Bottom Line. Rand's simplistic and puerile philosophy is their justification for unrestrained avarice and greed and inhumanity to their fellow humans. Just the opposite of what Jesus taught.

I read Ayn Rand when I was in my late teens and initially kind of liked The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. After I grew up a bit more and saw a bit more of the world, I realized the deep moral sickness and shallowness of philosophies like hers that are based on almost pathological egoistical self-centeredness and rampant greed and that lack any trace of empathy or compassion. Rand was a nutcase and clearly afflicted with NPD.

Ayn Rand = philosophy for the morally deficient greed heads

Ayn Rand = tautologies, psychotic delusions, self-contradictory nonsense, thug capitalism, pathological self-centeredness, closed heart and a collapse of civilization into a 'Road Warrior' type world.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder

What is Narcissistic Personality Disorder?

Narcissistic personality disorder is a pervasive disorder characterized by self-centeredness, lack of empathy, and an exaggerated sense of self-importance. As with other personality disorders, this disorder is an enduring and persistent pattern of behavior that negatively impacts many different life areas including social, family, and work relationships.

Symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder

Narcissism is a term commonly used to describe those who seemed more concerned with themselves than with others. It is important to distinguish between those who have narcissistic personality traits and those suffering from narcissistic personality disorder. Those with narcissistic personalities are often seen as arrogant, confident, and self-centered, but they do not have the exaggerated or grandiose view of their own abilities that characterizes narcissistic personality disorder.

The DSM-IV identifies the following symptoms:

* An exaggerated sense of one's own abilities and achievements.
* A constant need for attention, affirmation and praise.
* A belief that he or she is unique or "special" and should only associate with other people of the same status.
* Persistent fantasies about attaining success and power.
* Exploiting other people for personal gain.
* A sense of entitlement and expectation of special treatment.
* A preoccupation with power or success.
* Feeling envious of others, or believing that others are envious of him or her.
* A lack of empathy for others.

Thanks a million, Ayn Rand, for setting the greedy free

The trickle-down theory beloved of Greenspan and his ilk is less a philosophy than a handy excuse for avarice

Naomi Klein
The Guardian,
29 September 2009
(excerpts)

...when hard-right political leaders and their advisers apply brutal economic shock therapy, do they honestly believe the trickle-down effects will build equitable societies - or are they just deliberately creating the conditions for yet another corporate feeding frenzy? Put bluntly: has the world been transformed over the past three decades by lofty ideology or by lowly greed? ...The ideology in question holds that self-interest is the engine that drives society to its greatest heights. Isn't pursuing their own self-interest (and that of their campaign donors) compatible with that philosophy? That's the beauty: they don't have to choose.

Greenspan....discovered Ayn Rand. "What she did ... was to make me think why capitalism is not only efficient and practical, but also moral," he said in 1974. Rand's ideas about the "utopia of greed" allowed Greenspan to keep doing what he was doing but infused his corporate service with a powerful new sense of mission: making money wasn't just good for him, it was good for society as a whole. Of course, the flip side of this is the cruel disregard for those left behind. "Undeviating purpose and rationality achieve joy and fulfilment," Greenspan wrote as a zealous new convert. "Parasites who persistently avoid either purpose or reason perish as they should." Was it this mindset that served him well as he supported shock therapy in Russia (72 million impoverished) and east Asia after the 1997 economic crisis (24 million pushed into unemployment)? Rand has played this role of greed-enabler for countless disciples. According to the New York Times, Atlas Shrugged - Rand's novel that ends with the hero tracing a dollar sign in the air like a benediction - stands as "one of the most influential business books ever written". Since Rand is simply pulped-up Adam Smith, her influence on men such as Greenspan suggests an interesting possibility. Perhaps the true purpose of the entire literature of trickle-down theory is to liberate entrepreneurs to pursue their narrowest advantage while claiming global altruistic motives - not so much an economic philosophy as an elaborate, retroactive rationale.

Have the religious right ever figured out that Ayn Rand hated the idea of sacrafice for other human beings?

It occurs to me that many of the people who worship Rands ideas also claim christianity.

They are ideas which are diametricly opposed to each other.

As usual, you're clueless. She believed in the individual. The right to keep what you have worked for, the right not to let someone else be a leech and reap the fruits of your labor. It doesn't matter if you are christian or not, you as the individual should have a right to be left the fuck alone by a tyrannical government to make your own decisions with your own damn money. Noone is entitled to your money but you, kinda how it used to be before progressivism took over in America.
She wasn't anti-christian, she was anti communism and anti socialism.

Every time you praise Ayn Rand you slap Jesus in the face.

Do you think Jesus will remember that?

Wow, must have been a great movie, I have been wanting to see it.
You can always tell when the left feel threatened by something, they immediately send out the attack drones on it.

The right to keep what you have worked for
So she opposed capitalism and advocated workplace democracy?
, the right not to let someone else be a leech
So she opposed the existence of CEOs?
and reap the fruits of your labor
When a man tells you that he got rich through hard work, ask him: 'Whose?'
Don Marquis
. It doesn't matter if you are christian or not, you as the individual should have a right to be left the fuck alone by a tyrannical government to make your own decisions
Unless you're a Christian, in which case you believe paradise is an authoritarian theocracy where a punishment worse than death accompanies any and all dissent.
She wasn't anti-christian, she was anti communism and anti socialism.
Real Christians are socialists

OMG, she was sacrilegious.

The welfare/warfare states teaches us that the individuals have no rights, that the government has the right to confiscate individuals property for whatever the bureaucrats determine is good for us.

You're thinking of jesus

But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. “Why are you trying to trap me?” he asked. “Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.” 16They brought the coin, and he asked them, “Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?”
“Caesar’s,” they replied.
17Then Jesus said to them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”

Ayn Rand agrees more with Christianity than what you socialist libs say.

You libs don't want to "sacrifice' for others. You want to steal from the "rich" (aka anyone that makes a paycheck) and give to your voting constituents (aka the poor, aka anyone bellyaching for more money without working more for it)

That's not sacrifice, that's alterior motive.

At least Rand isn't preaching theft from others to "help the poor."

The same Christianity that preached giving also preached it's wrong to steal.

But libs do that all the time, they simply call it, "taxation."

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.....

"In her philosophy of Objectivism, Rand advocated reason as the only means of acquiring knowledge and rejected all forms of faith and religion.

In metaphysics, Rand embraced philosophical realism and atheism, and opposed anything she regarded as mysticism or supernaturalism, including all forms of religion."

Wanna try, again, there....lil' trooper????
