Axelrod fumbles: Obama doesn’t have a plan to save Social Security

the republican party wants SS dead

It is not worth fighting with you. You believe every damn word Obama says . Even if he says he was WRONG you make excuses for him. Now go back his ass again

IN other words, you can't think of a single argument showing rethugs trying to save Social Security.

Were the rethugs for or against Social Security when it was implemented?

I am sick to death of these idiots lies.

they do nothing but fuvking lie anymore

True but the dems don't have the balls to do it.

Then why is it that the Rethugs don't want to be the hero by proposing the solution themselves? Why do they have to wait for Dems to take the credit? You know the rethugs want to save SSI. Sure they do. We can tell by their actions.

Everyone knows that when the Republicans offer a solution two things happen. The dems demogouge it, B. Reid throws it in the waste paper can. nice try zeek the sheik try again.

Bull shit. So in other words the rethugs have no conviction that saving Social Security is a worthwhile goal. That's pretty much what I thougt to.

Social security is not sustainable. For one thing, we don't have a workforce to support social security payments and the work force that we are moving towards is to a majority of low paid, low level service workers who can't possibly hope to support social security.

Republicans want to have a system where people can invest their money into whatever retirement plan they choose. Someday, except for a thin safety net, Social Security will be replaced. For those people who have social security and private investment income, which pays more? If given the option, most people, or intelligent people at least, would choose private investment over government confiscation. For those that prefer the pittance of social security, they will be able to choose the same method already used.

So, basically he saying they are going to kick the can until they cant anymore like they have with medicare. Gotcha

He right.

It's not going to be a problem for at least 2 decades. And it's a problem that's easily solved. Modest raise in contribution and retirement age pretty much solves it.

True but the dems don't have the balls to do it.

Dems really don't have to balls to do much.

Gotta give it to the Republicans sometimes..they may be crazy..but they fight well.

Hell I even forgot to ask stevenc.

Just what proposal did the rethugs make to save Social Security? YOu know, where the Dems rejected their logical, reasonable proposal. And Harry threw it away.

Sure it is.

Once the Republicans are out..we will bring back high tech jobs to the US. Enough with this outsourcing nonsense.

Why doesn't the rethug party propose raising the income cap on SSI contributions. It has been raised before. How do you think it got to the current level. Magic?

how about let's raise it to 95? Would that work for ya?

YOU missed the boat on this one. We were speaking of the income limits for SSI contributions. It is alreay higher than 95k.

Or were you thinking of age before you file? If so, you wait till you are 95. I am going to claim mine earlier.

Eric Cantor Admits Republicans Want to Kill Social Security | Firedoglake

Caught Eric Cantor (R-VA) on NPR this morning, talking about his vision for America (2:20 in).

“50% of beneficiaries under the Social Security program use those moneys as their sole source of income. So we’ve got to protect today’s seniors. But for the rest of us? Listen, we’re going to have to come to grips with the fact that these programs cannot exist if we want America to be what we want America to be.”

they say it out loud

If you are for raising the cap, are you also for raising the maximum benefit?[/QUOTE]

No. Other than adjustment for inflation. Also means test for benefits.

Outsourcing happens when unions price themselves out of a job with unreasonable demands.
