Fewer viewers for second inauguration

Turns out turnout wasn't just lower on the Mall. Gallup finds fewer Americans watched President Obama's inauguration yesterday than did so in 2009.

Only 38 percent of Americans surveyed said they watched yesterday's presidential inauguration as it happened, while another 27 percent saw, read, or heard news coverage of the events, according to Gallup's new survey. In 2009, 60 percent said they watched the ceremonies live, while 20 percent saw news coverage later. That means about two-thirds of Americans saw some coverage of the second inauguration, while four our of every five saw coverage of the first.

You are correct. ONLY one million people on the mall

Which is more than George Bush got for both of his inaugurations combined. Bush manged to draw 300,000 for his first and 400,000 for his second. Shows the enthusiasm for a Bush presidency

Our economy IS recovering from a deep and damaging crisis

Why are Republicans insisting we are not allowed to talk about its origins?

Keep talking and I'll keep puttin up da poster..

What the panoramic picture didn't show is that just a few blocks away all those people's cars were being broken into!

There were no cars allowed in the downtown area
The Mall Area yes, but just a few blocks away are a myriad of Parking Garages.

The Mall probably has the most Police per square foot of any place in the US but just a few blocks away is one of the most dangerous areas in the US.

I submit a very small percentage of any large gathering on The Mall parks cars nearby, people take the metro especially if from out of town and staying at hotels.

Also, in which direction a few blocks away is one of the most dangerous areas in the US? Most areas near The Mall are either fed gov or somewhat gentrified residential neighborhoods. Sure the part near the Capitol borders SE but most of the more dangerous areas in SE are across the A river. Go far enough North from the and its sketchy but you'd really be stretching the term "a few blocks" it isn't like some tourist came for the inaguration and parked their rental up in Adams Morgan or Shaw then walked to The Mall.

Sure it is possible to get mugged near (or even on) The Mall hell people sometimes get mugged in Georgetown, but I can't think of one area within a few blocks that would qualify as one of the most dangerous areas in the US.

A bunch of people who voted to continue the bombing of children. Great.

Since this seems to be the only comment you can make in most threads, why don't you post a poll asking what people would prefer.

Would we all like to see MILLIONS OF INNOCENTS MURDERED BY A REPUBLICAN PREZ AT THE COST OF $$TRILLIONS???

Or, would we all prefer to see surgical strikes, resulting in the deaths of a relative few while spending very little money?

Why don't you also ask in that poll if there are others like you who want to see AMERICANS killed instead of our ENEMIES?

Ask how many are so damn ignorant about war that they believe hundreds of deaths and injuries from the use of drones are worse than MILLIONS OF THIS-

wrong. I live over here. A lot of gentrification has gone on. Baltimore, Richmond, or Hartford are much worse.

Does this include those who had rotten eggs in their pockets?

If for no other reason that it might help us to NOT repeat those mistakes .... like voting Republican.

Panoramic view of Obama's second inauguration - PhotoBlog

reminds me of the panoramic pic they took of the Repub convention EXCEPT it isn't a sea of white faces ;)

To bad that the President has surrounded himself with a new cabinet of men only and that the Senate Dem's have no Blacks.

Republicans have a new Black Senator and 2 new Latinos.
The only Black man in the Senate now, by the way.

The last black Senator before him is now President

Watch Corey Booker from NJ get elected to the Senate in 2014
