While it may be ugly to look at, people shouting down their reps and putting a little job insecurity into them is the only way that the public is going to get any input into our future. I don't know about anyone else but I'm so damned tired of calling my reps offices and having their staff members attempt to obfuscate the issues and my reps votes on them. They send constituents letters that are just flat out diametrically opposed to the votes they placed and expect people to believe their words rather than their actions. For example check out this exerpt from a letter I received from Bart Gordon today. ( bear in mind that Bart has voted yes on EVERYTHING that the Dem leadership has told him too )

" I want you to know my primary focus has been and remains putting our country's finances in order. Families have to live within a budget and government should too. Our economy is improving daily-not as fast as many of us would like to see, but progress is there."

His letter was touting his wonderful vote for PAYGO, and meant to blow smoke up the ass of voters that might not have been paying attention to his votes quadrupling the deficit. I hope half the district shows up if this guy get balls enough to show up for a townhall meeting.

There are a tonne of problems with the US political system, but the biggest is pork bills. Couldn't believe it when I read about them. Very strange way of doing things. And unnecessary...
