Atheist group sues over cross at 9/11 memorial

Atheist, religious, PC aside...it is illegal for federal funding to support any faith based construction effort. In order for the cross to included within the federally funded memorial a separate fund must be setup and backed by private monies. Tracking costs and funding is meticulously monitored and audited. Every item purchased, every labor hour exhausted must be acounted for and paid for directly out of the private fund.

Is a lawsuit necessary? Are we swinging the PC pendulum realllyyyy wide?

Maybe and maybe.

According to the article, there are also some Jews and a Lutheran that are upset about it.

Why not just put the symbol for the religion of each person that died instead of being so divisive?

typical communist to see being a Christian as divisive!

Christian symbols on public land is divisive. Being a Christian, is not.

This isn't just an atheist group, Jews and Lutherans feel the cross is divisive and constitutes government support of religion. It's about including the cross in the 9/11 museum. The suit asks that either the cross be removed or non-religious symbols, and other religious symbols be included.

That's fair IMO.

9/11 was an AMERICAN tragedy, not a Christian one.
