Britains losses in WWI were so horrendous thay were reluctant to repeat that scenario in WWII. But her military, with the krag, at one time allowed her to dominate one fourth of the world. It seems every nation downplays the fighting ability of the other and many times gets caught in their own petard. Look at America's stereotype of the Japanese before Pearl Harbor, and we ended up using the A bomb. Look at what we labeled gooks in Vietnam and now in Afghanistan. America has no monopoly on courage, ingenuity, or will to win.
