Ask a snob: Why are MILLIONS of jobs going "unfilled"?

And yet you want free education.

There ain't no such thing as a free lunch, kid.
I know that, ignoramus. However, considering that the federal government is constitutionally allowed to borrow on credit, and also tax at whatever damn rate it wants to, I don't think the cost of enacting the proposals that I suggest would be that burdensome.

You still have not made a compelling case that what I propose would be overly burdensome.
If you want to send more of your money to the government so idiots can get worthless degrees in liberal arts, be my guest. But keep your damn hands out of my wallet.

A friend of mine runs the IT department for a small non-profit. He can't find a good basic programmer, even in this economy.

Sounds like, in addition to allowing competition to produce better educational results, we should be encouraging more LEGAL immigration by those with valuable skills.

Oh that's already happening. Republicans aren't getting top jobs. They believe education is for snobs.

You mean like those wacky BS Bible degrees from those zany tier four right wing colleges?

Two large myths operate in this thread. One concerns paying for education and then pretending you care about education. A nation that does not educate is easy to find, look only at third world nations. The second myth is the type of education is the magic pill to success. Since I have managed in a variety of situations and levels, your education matters, but it only matters up to a point. Give me a motivated liberal arts graduate over a lackadaisical engineering student any day. Been there done that. Or give me a highly interested technical person with HS degree only any day. Been there done that. Look too at the degrees of some of our best business and government leaders. The blind myopia of the conservatives and republicans shows a real lack of real world experience.

Because some here don't think we need Taxpayer's "footing the Bill" for people who CHOOSE to go to College, you are equating that to "pretending" to NOT care about education, the EXACT OPPOSITE is true. A very nice lesson is learned when you pay your own way... Personal Responsibility. The bonus is that when YOU pay, odds are better you're not going to arbitrarily brush off classes, in favor of the next Frat party that comes along. As for your last sentence, and your partisan hackery... I'd love to hear what YOU define as "real world experience"... A couple of months on the street in a rank OWS tent?

Nope... You don't bribe people to go into STEM professions, they need to make that call for themselves. You can INFLUENCE that decision by showing them the rewards and satisfaction they will get for signing up --- and have mentors that prepare them for the task.

Should we then stop making children tax-deductible? It's encouraging people to have children. Shouldn't people make that decision themselves?

Still ignoring the larger point.

Normally, you want at least the brightest and most hard working young people to go to college. It's good for the country and for the future of the country. It's only common sense and it's patriotic.

Republicans think anything that helps the country is "socialism". In there mind, it's "every man for himself" totally forgetting the wisdom behind "United we stand".

Received two big "hand outs"? That's not "paying your way".
Awww, derpy's mad because someone isn't utterly dependent on the government.

Oh come on. You can't keep saying all this stuff and receive food stamps and unemployment at the same time. It's not fair.

Oh, look, a leftist is whining about fairness again.

Nevertheless, you're incorrect. I have a great job.

Now go clean the men's room.

Oh, are you still claiming that conservatives only get degrees from Bible colleges?

Do you know how stupid that makes you look?

No. You probably think it makes you look intelligent.

The only thing you would find compelling is mindless endorsement of your views.

You came to the wrong place for that, kid.

It's amusing when someone who can't think tries to tell others what they think.
