BURLINGAME, Calif. -- A Burlingame food distribution company that specializes in Asian imports is continuing a voluntary recall of Chinese candies after state officials found them to be contaminated.

Queensway Foods Company Inc., a U.S. distributor of White Rabbit Candy, has responded to consumer warnings from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the California Department of Health and the San Mateo Public Health Department by recalling every flavor of the Chinese-produced candy after testing found it to contain dangerous levels of the toxin melamine, Suanne Buggy of the state health department confirmed Monday.

Wow, what a surprise! (sarcasm oozing right now)
China has been putting lead in children's toys and other dangerous toxic chemicals for a very long time. God only knows how many Chinese child-directed products are deadly and dangerous.

But seriously, it's going to get to the point that the only thing safe to eat will be what we grow ourselves.
