GENEVA, (PIC)-- Catherine Ashton, the European foreign policy chief, called on Monday for allowing exports from Gaza to the outside world in order to boost its economy.

Ashton told reporters before a meeting for the European foreign ministers that more efforts were needed to improve the conditions in Gaza, mentioning in particular allowing exports so as to reinvigorate its economy.

For his part, Italian foreign minister Franco Frattini reiterated that a group of European foreign ministers would visit the besieged coastal enclave early September.

BTW, how is that isolating Gaza thing going?

We are all Palestinians, we want actions not words.

It is good to see someone getting off the "aid" wagon and getting down to the real problem with the blockade.

The aid thing is Israel trying to frame the debate. It is time to expand that debate.

World should adopt this model:

Creating industrial-zones (cheap-labor) in Palestine, giving incentives for companies to move production there, and giving state guarantees to purchase the goods.
A state needs a lot of things, from furniture, tables to light-bubbles.

Turkish Industry Minister: “Despite all Israeli efforts to prevent it, an industrial zone will be constructed there. It should be.”

In 2005 Turkey wanted to run "Erez Inustrial Estate", the mass-murders from Israel rejected. Now the industrial zone will be built in Jenin.

I hat to disagree with you there, but, it is the plan (Tony Blair, Bibi Nutandyahoo) to create foreign owned sweat shops in Palestine to take advantage of captive(i.e. cheap) labor. This will be coupled to the denial of Palestinians to create their own economy.

This will guarantee that Palestine, at best, will always be a third world country.
