The North fired dozens of shells towards the South Korean island of Yeonpyeong. Yeonpyeong island is right below to the North-South maritime border, where a number of military clashes have already occurred in the past. However, an aimed shelling against civilian residential area has never taken place since the Korean war. Experts are saying that the North pressed ahead with this irrational provocation in order to establish Kim Jong-Un as a charismatic leader and to solidify control within the nation. However, whatever the underlying intention was, Yeonpyeong now lies in ruins and its people are agonizing over the deaths of their beloved. North Korea's actions cannot be forgiven.
