This is old stuff from an"investigative" team looking for funding. A couple of years ago the spokesman held up a piece of aircraft recovered in the same area and declared positively that it was from Earhart's plane. A month later he admitted that it was a different type of plane lost during WW2. I saw the Nat-Geo documentary where they found bird bones and scraping tools and glass and a pocket knife (of the type etc) and the evidence proves nothing. Perhaps the same "scientists" are working on global warming.
I read a story several years back of her artifacts being found by indigenous islanders, but I don't think the story I read carried news of of 57 distress calls having been made by her and then having them ignored as a hoax by the authorities. If so, it won't be the first time in history someone has been asleep at the wheel. *sigh*
