I don't know if things have changed but when I enlisted in 1965 Army recruiters were bigger liars than used car salesmen. Boy, the bullshit my recruiter fed us - we were 3 friends who enlisted together on what was called "the buddy system". Other than basic training in the same place, the only proximity to each other after that was that we all went to Vietnam.

That this one lied to some underaged child is no surprise to me.
