Arizona's new law

When was the last time you heard of a drive-by shooting perpetrated by Jim Beam?

It's not too often that I disagree with you but this is just DUmb. That's just what we need around here. legalized drugs and milllions of legalized addicts.. who in the hell do you suppose is gonna buy their supper and pay for their drugs and their treatments for drug abuse... think about that Waldo.

Your point of contention is noted...but then we are speaking of Liberty in it's very essence.

And with that liberty comes the responsibility of shouldering it by being responsible for the actions of the practice with no one to blame but yourself for not being responsible for exercising it.

I think this is where DUDE speaks.

-But *I* could be wrong-?

Illegals, currently living in Arizona, will be migrating to a neighboring state, probably California. If they start catching and deporting at a high rate, you may even see them packing up and returning to Mexico. I think it's a good move by Arizona.

I don't think this will have any effect on the drug trade.

Police would need a reasonable suspicion that is not racist.
What would that be?

The law now requires the cops enforce federal immigration policy. The only way the state will know if they are is to have a quota system...just like with speeding tickets.

You guys arguing the drug debate are missing the point entirely; in terms of illegal aliens, their presence alone here in this country IS THE CRIME. It is completely irrelevent what they happen to have on them, whether it be hard drugs or even bubble gum and a pepsi.

The reason a measure like this exists in the first place is b/c the federal gov't has ignored its duty to secure the borders of this great country, pandering instead for votes, and the states, like Arizona, are tired of footing the bill for the feds inaction.

Again,

Since the Feds and many cities are refusing to enforce the law, you need states to make laws like this and stand up for the rule of law. Now if this would jail sanctuary proponants and employers as well.

'Immigrants coming to America to work --even the illegal ones-- aren't the ones committing all the violent crimes driving this dopey law. It's the drug smugglers and dealers.'

Prove it, Dude.

Cities aren't required to enforce it.

Would make more sense for Arizona to decriminalize weed and let people grow their own.

I get that part.

The problem is the extreme violence --murder, kidnapping, other various and sundry gang violence-- which is part and parcel to the drug trade.

Junk the insane "war" on (some) drugs and the socialistic moocher state, and 95% of the problem with illegal immigration just plain vanishes.

They will.

Millions of people who don't exactly have a constructive relationship with booze and cigarettes hold down jobs and support themselves every day.

Maybe you've even said the words "personal responsibility" yourself.

And I'll bet you a dollar to a cat turd that every one of them doing the shooting is involved in the drug trade.

This is more of republicans acting like democrats, in layering stupid policy on top of a stupider policy.

No DUD...e, this is Republicans acting like Republicans, and Democrats acting like Democrats. The Arizona Senate vote fell strictly along party lines: 35 ayes, all Republicans ; 21 nays, all Democrats.

This IS intrusive and overbearing government. It is as draconian as Hitler's Germany or Stalin's USSR.

This law IS today's Republican Party, a party of authoritarians. This law represents the right wing Utopia, the ultimate "Nanny State' ...a government that arrests, harasses, punishes or murders human beings is NOT too much government or BIG government. It is simply doing God's work.

This law is NOT fiscal responsibility, it will cause a tax increase in Arizona to enforce this law. It will cost taxpayers $35-$40,000 per inmate to incarcerate each human being.

You continue to prove you are nothing but a right wing pea brain who calls himself a libertarian. You need to stop sucking on your parent's tit and move out from being under the protection of mommy and daddy.

Many of you have not heard anything until you hear the hysteria on the spanish channels......unbelievable!! Chill everyone - this law will not be implemented as too many are saying it's unconstitutional - what else is new????? What will happen is that it will push Obama in to give the 20m plus illegals already here amnesty - and then get ready for another influx of illegals waiting for the next one! You will continue to hear the same rhetoric: we only come to work; we only want a better life; we only want the american dream, etc. Crime will continue to rise; the drug cartels will be here enmass; the kidnappings will rise and the gang activity will also, etc. MAY GOD HELP US ALL!!!

Obama and his crew are likely to try making illegals 'legal' in time for the next election.

There is a good article on the Third Report about this... but I don't think I'm supposed to post links.
