I want to be clear that while I like some of Cain's ideas, he isn't my number one choice. I just kind of doubt that pu##& is first on his agenda list, at this stage in his life.

Cain is being attacked from the Right.

Obama benefits when Romeny and Perry have to spend money fending off Cain.

Obama loses if Romney walks to the nomination without having to dip deeply into his war chest.

Obama benefits when Cain is strong and can create a tough primary season for the eventual nominee - Romney.

Cain was attacked from the Right, most likely from Perry or Romney, but also quite possibly from the establishment GOP, which does not want an expensive primary season.

Obama's people want Cain as much as the Bushies wanted Nadar. The other party always likes when unelectable side-shows deplete the money/power/image of the front runner.
