To whatever extent that took place it does not amount to starting an "Atlantic slave trade". For that you need ships, and cue the Portuguese and Spanish, followed in rapid succession by French, English, Dutch and what became Americans. How do you imagine these humans were going to be transported across an ocean? Jump in the transporter room and go "energize"??

Further your blanket generalization "Africans were more than willing" is bullshit since their captives were other Africans (DUH). How "willing" do you imagine said captives were?

Slavery was a practice that humans had indulged in from time immoral. Africans enslaved other Africans; Europeans enslaved other Europeans; Native Americans enslaved other Native Americans. But it was the Europeans that started the practice of exporting them to another continent. And to justify this they had to invent racism --- the concept that "we're bringing in this inferior life form --- they're almost human and they can do the work but they're not really human so it's OK, wink wink". Before then that concept had been unknown. Africans were known in Europe before slavery; it was the slave trade that made it necessary to invent racism -- to transform them from humans to a commodity.

But make no mistake, Europeans started all that. Africa wasn't sending slave ships to Haiti or Bahia or New Orleans.

So what the racists on this board and outside it, are still clinging to, is a bullshit concept that was developed to justify a human trafficking practice that's been illegal for over two hundred years. That's part of what makes them "conservative".

Ultimately it was, as always, all about money. With two entirely "new" continents to exploit there was a shitload of money to be made, and the more labor you could apply, the more sugar, tobacco, rice, cotton etc you could produce, which meant there was money to be made in shipping humans across the Atlantic. It was so lucrative you could pack them in to a point where a large number did not survive the trip, and you still made money. The things greed will drive peope to do...

Africans were not the only ones shipped; Oliver Cromwell and his brother sent tens of thousands of Irish slaves who were refusing to submit to Christianism to the West Indies (which has a lot to do with why the Jamaican accent sounds as it does) -- but in that case they were indentured servants with a finite term that eventually was "worked off". Racism wouldn't work with people who looked as white as the enslavers, and if the rationale was "inferior race" it could not simultaneously be applied to one's own. But here again, the Irish didn't climb on ships and sail across the Atlantic to enslave themselves -- that would be the English, doing what they do best: kicking people out of their homeland.

And again, the English: Europeans. The entire Atlantic slave trade was born out of European greed run amok.

Now just to apply all of this to the clusterfuck blanket generalization of the OP, while it was (some of the) Europeans who invented racism and started the practice of shipping slaves across the Atlantic, to try to mesh that with the fact that Europeans are white and conclude that therefore "white people are racist" is the same fallacy of generalizing traits onto a class of people on account of a characteristic of birth, that the slavery of racism employs. Same thing. (Some) Europeans started the transatlantic slave trade --- OTHER Europeans stopped it. What invented the slave trade, and therefore racism, wasn't "being European" or "being white" -- it was good old fashioned materialistic greed. And that's not a racial trait -- it's a human trait.

When I used the term Celtic beauties I was referring the young redheaded Irish women and girls that commanded the highest prices in North Africa.
