Considering the definition of athlete is one who is trained or skilled in exercises, sports, or games requiring physical strength, agility, or stamina and all below are sports:

golfers = yes
pool players = possibly, agility?
table tennis = yes
race car drivers = yes
rodeo/horse racers = yes
the people that race those fast boats w/ oars (don't know name) = yes
bowlers = yes
outdoorsmen (hunting/fishing) = yes if they do it for sport, not for eating

golfers- just watch the US Open next month and tell me that walking 18 holes with the pressure in 100 degree heat with soaring humidity on Long Island doesn't take an athlete.
pool players-no
table tennis-yes
race car drivers-no
rodeo/horse racers-Rodeo is the most physically taxing sport in America hands down, take it from one who's participated.
the people that race those fast boats w/ oars (don't know name)- hell yes
bowlers-no
outdoorsmen (hunting/fishing)-sometimes but then I think of Jimmy Houston and I say no.

i think anyone can walk 18 holes in the heat but that doesn't mean they are "athletic". sorry. just my opinion.

golfers - yes, because it does take some athletic skill to hit a golf ball the right way
pool players - no
table tennis - not unless you're Forrest Gump
race car drivers - I wouldn't call them athletes but I've got a lot of respect for their abilities
rodeo - hell yes
crew - yes, these people have to work out a lot to get good
bowlers - hell no. Have you been to a bowling alley lately?
outdoorsmen - not athletes, but again, respect from me

I got ya but take note, you won't see any fat bastards with a winston hanging out of their mouth winning.

If you are 18 or younger, none of these make you an athlete.

If you are 35 or over, you are trying out for the olympics. :D

I wouldn't say that. I know plenty of people who can't walk down their own driveways in the heat.

Besides, walking the holes isn't the only thing that makes them athletic...it's the entire experience. In order to golf well, you need practice, hand eye coordination, agility, balance and stamina (these people stand, walk and play in amazing heat...that does take stamina).

I understand what you mean when you say they aren't athletic, but you are wrong. Brute strength and speed are not the only things that make someone athletic.

Yesssssss. Darts is an opportunity for me to win free beer. 501 anyone?

the day spent lifting 12 ounces when trying to figure out why I did not bag that catch.

Hey you only crack a cold one when you get skunked? Hell if I can get away with it i'm cracking during and after while cleaning my kill, not to mention the cowboy coffee(flogers with Jim Beam) in the duck blind on those extra cold days. I only do that to ward of the cold
:p:

Booze and fishing has always gone together like bread and butter but whoever said booze and hunting don't mix is crazy! It enhances my skills, or so I think:D

Disclaimer: I don't drink while hunting if others are around
