Racism is not so much a matter of being dumb as it is a matter of lack of education and/or intellectual honesty. Martin Luther King put it very simply: We shouldn't judge people by the color of their skin but the content of their character.
"Racism" is also a much overused word that is very often misused. It continues to be a subject of great "debate" because people won't let it die - and that applies to both sides of the issue whether black, white or purple. I grew up in the desegregated South, never went to school with a black student and I managed to survive a parent who hated blacks, Jews and Catholics alike. I never had problems getting along with other races or people of other religions.
Just because I sometimes make a statement about some race does not make me a racist. It's just a statement about a particular situation or a particular person. There's good and bad in all of us.
