Woman throws acid on victim in Mesa (2nd acid attack this week)

Police are looking for a woman who threw acid on another woman outside her Mesa home on Thursday afternoon.
Mesa Police Detective Michael Melendez said the 41-year-old victim arrived at her home in the area of Southern Avenue and Val Vista Drive around 1 p.m.
As she was getting out of her vehicle in the southwest parking lot, a woman approached her and threw acid on her before running northbound on foot through the complex, according to Melendez.
The victim was transported to Maricopa County Medical Center with level two burns to her face and chest area.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic female between 30 and 40 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 140 pounds, black shoulder-length hair in a ponytail, and has wide hips, according to Melendez.
The suspect was reportedly wearing a black tank top and black sweatpants with a white stripe.
Based on the investigation, Melendez said it appears this is not a random act.
Detectives are currently following up on leads
