2012 Presidential Election Preview: ABC News-Washington Post Poll - ABC News

"For the first time since September, numerically more Americans now disapprove than approve of Obama's job performance, 50 percent vs. 47 percent; at 37 percent, the number who "strongly" disapprove is a point from the record, and exceeds strong approvers by 10 points. "

"Forty-three percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents say they're satisfied with the choice of candidates for the GOP nomination for president next year, compared with 65 percent satisfaction with the field at exactly this point four years ago."

This might be a good sign, hopefully a year from now the numbers are about the same.

These polls on the POTUS satisfaction mean VERY little when gasoline prices are high. Pissed off people are going to be negative against the POTUS during these times.

But the poll seems right on about the GOP "field" if you want to call it that. There are no officially announced candidates yet, but the ones who seem to be front runners aren't attractive at all to we independent voters.

Yes, thank god, Americans are waking up. Now the question is what the hell are we going to do about it.

We have one party that is on an ideological course that will destroy this country with Debt, the Other only pays lip service to cutting spending while in fact they are nothing but another version of the other party.

If ever there was a time to vote 3rd party. That time is now.

It's not just gas prices, it's the entire economy that affects the citizens view of Obama and the others running gov't.

When the rest of America is cutting back, Washington (reps and dems) are going on a spending spree with our money. Just look at the last budget they all passed.

The American general public are like new born babies, they will wake up when you rattle the crib, but give this some food and sing a pretty little tune soft light and they will fall right back to sleep.
Me I never sleep.

Better to wake up at some point than never, we'll see if this holds up.

What happens when you vote 3rd party? Will things change? No I don't think so. How about we just vote for the person and forget about the party?

20 years ago the birth certificate along with obama's questionble past would have kept anyone off the primary ballot much less win an election.

Most Americans, unfortunately, really don't pay much attention to stuff like the budget.

They DO pay attention to the price of gasoline, and of course blame the POTUS.

As I said, these polls are meaningless right now.

What rational reason was there to vote for McCain/Palin?

I'm a fiscal conservative, I can't think of one.

It was all the gop allowed us to vote for. The GOP gave obama the elction. We all know that no matter the party when the beltway gang comes in contact with them they seem to lose their values.
The gop like the dnc will not allow anyone who is for a small effect government to run for president.

OMG I seriously look back and wonder wth was going on with that. I no longer wonder as much but for a woman to run for VP in the opposing party of a black president was quite seriously the fire under my ass that woke me up with a bit of a start. FFS there is almost no question as to the fact that America is the bratty child to the rest of the world.

Coming from the obvious paleoconservative background that I do it is one thing to sympathize and commend movements and parties for their strengths, the necessary insurance toward groups within society to keep the remnants, however some things must DIE out of shear humanity.

We may be waking up but we are not complaing enough to our elected officals, Both sides have played us for over 30 years and then they try to stick us with the bill. When American Politicians are for sale this is what we get. Wall st that runs like a casino and banks don't pay fair interest on savings, You want real change then burry your elected officals under complaints and remind them that they can be replaced, regarless of what special interest pay you for, because the people have the real power. So in my opinion, are Americans waking up no not really. Unless you like paying $4.00 a gallon for gas.

Both parties SUCK.....One just sucks a little less. If there was ever a time that we needed a third party.....this is it.

Please explain what a third parties agenda would be. We currently have one party that taxes and spends and another that cuts taxes and spends. Would this third party raise taxes and cut spending? How would this third party be different? Would it stay out of people's personal lives? The other two can't seem to do that. Just wondering what this third party would look like.
