If “Current Events” is not an appropriate place for this topic, please move the thread. With all due respect to the Declaration of Independence, all men are not created equal. Some people are born into poverty. Some men are born into wealth. Some are born with high IQ. Some are born with severe physical and mental handicaps. Some are born with retarded. Some are born with Down’s syndrome. Some are born to incompetent parents. Some are born to influential parents. Those handicapped and born into bad poor parents might never become independent. They will not have as much life and liberty as those porn under more favorable circumstances. Many people, through practically no fault of their own, will forever be dependent on others. When you are dependent on others, you are not truly free.

And some of us are saddled with the worst inequality of all:

We are born white men.

All men are created equal in the eyes of the law, is what they were inferring to.

We are equal. We all have a right to life. We all have a right to liberty. We are free to make our own choices. We all have a right to persue happiness.

What, then, does it mean to speak of equality? Do we mean to say one man is necessarily equal to another in any objective sense? Certainly not, for such an assertion is absurd on its face- men are not all equal in their build, their character (either in their natural or inherent disposition or in the sum of their natural disposition and their experience), or in their physical and mental capacities and potential. Indeed, the market itself, the division of labour, and the specialization which makes the modern age possible are built upon this very fact of nature. Equality, then is not to be misconstrued as the equal nature, potential, attributes, or value of all persons (consider the fair judge against the diseased thief), but is rather to be understood as the equality of all citizens before the law and the equal right of all members of our society to develop their own potential free of discrimination based upon their race, sex, colour, or place and caste of birth.

Well, creation might be considered to happen when we become zygotes.

And if you can tell the difference between zygotes, then you have a mental problem.
