Arab League criticizes allied airstrikes on Libya

Actually, no, they didn't. The comment - which was in response to a direct question about potential civilian casualties, was mistranslated and taken out of context. Hence, it is important to have the context for any remark made, before we get all hyperbolic about it.

Didn't Arafat used to have the same problem when reporters translated what he said in Arabic and compared it to what he said in English?

The strikes are the aggressive way of enforcing a no fly zone.

Something like "sure we will enforce it, but it would be putting our boys at undue risk to just let the them get shot at w/o softening uo the air defenses."

Not sure of my feelings but at least we seem organized about it.

There is no way to enforce a NFZ unless you take out the air defenses, and even bombing airstrips. something which everyone made clear going in. It does not, however, require attacking ground forces or bombing command and control centers, AKA Qaddafi's house.

Even though no one is saying it these air strikes are meant to take out Ghaddafi, otherwise we wouldn't be bombing his house.:doubt:

Only if Anti-Aircraft installations begin to fire.
Who has fired 1st? Planes on AA-installations or AA-installations on planes?

I bet, that the Aircrafts and Cruise Missiles fired 1st.
It's an aggressive act against Libyan Army, so Libyan Army fires back.

Who cares? the US Cruise Missiles and French Fighter jets did not go into Libya because the Libyans attacked them, we all know the allies struck first genius.:eusa_hand:

The mission isn't designed to remove Quadaffi, but Obama said today he must go.

We aren't providing cover for the rebels but if Quadaffi continues to fire on them they blow up his house.

Obama is deathly afraid of looking aggressive and actually winning a war, so he's bowing out before the left tries to impeach him.(A Democrat actually said this weekend if we wanted to impeach Bush we should impeach Obama too)

What a fucken mess.

Somebody let me know when these idiots figure out what they're gonna do.

well, unless there is some correction, there has been ample evidence that that indeed was the tenor of his comments, unless Moussa has has asked for a correction or clarification. :eusa_eh:

Russia, China, India and Turkey condemn Libya strikes

India urged an immediate halt to the strikes spearheaded by French fighter jets Saturday, as Germany said it had "good reasons" for abstaining from Thursday's UN vote on the action and African nations voiced criticism.

Looks like Russia, China, India and Turkey are going to miss out on those oil contracts.

Think harder. And stop getting 'facts' mixed up with bullshit from the media.

Yea, he did, as have many other Arab leaders.... also, of course, they tend to deliberately use language that can be 'misinterpreted' to avoid unrest at home.

I think people should look a tad harder at what is happening and employ a little critical thought, instead of regurgitating media opinions as facts.
