April 30, 1975- The Fall of Saigon

LBJ sent troops to Vietnam with a faked crisis in the Tonkin Gulf and the media went along with it because LBJ was a democrat. CIA analysts who never saw a shot fired in anger pretty much ran the strategy in Vietnam while the Generals stood by and watched as LBJ set the rules so that we could win every battle and still lose Saigon and the whole freaking mission. Just as it seemed that the strategy to eradicate the V.C. seemed to be working after the U.S. victory of the Tet Offensive, Walter Cronkite got off his fat ass, traveled to Vietnam, donned a helmet to pretend he was under fire and called the U.S. victory "a stalemate". Instead of offering leadership after the defeat of the V.C. after Tet, LBJ went on T.V. and tearfully announced that he would not seek reelection. V.C. general Giap received an unexpected propaganda gift and LBJ and the CIA managed to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory and the war went on.

It is worse then that..... We agreed to supply the South with military goods and parts after we left, because of Watergate the dems took over and nullified that agreement. When the North Invaded in 75 it was a feint to see what the US would do, when we refused to honor our treaty with South Vietnam The NORTH sent 25 divisions against the weakened South Vietnam. South Vietnam fought for a month against an overwhelming invasion from the North while the Democrats sat and watched. No munitions no parts no help violating a treaty we had with South Vietnam.

LBJ threw in the towel just when the freaking war was won after the V.C. was virtually wiped out after the "Tet Offensive". Is it possible that Walter Cronkite's visit to Vietnam after Tet was intended to give general Giap more breathing room to engage in further military offensives? When you factor in the emerging left wing anarchy movement in the U.S. and the CIA's questionable agenda at the time and the Mainstream Media's role anything is possible.

it was an unwinnable war --plain and simple
do you know the history?
1. they beat the French --and the French had US help!!!!!
3. Despite some misgivings about backing a colonial power, the US began to support the French in Vietnam. Washington aided the French during their war with the Viet Minh, investing almost $3 billion in the years prior to 1954.
American military advisors will accompany the flow of U.S. tanks, planes, artillery and other supplies to Vietnam. Over the next four years, the U.S. will spend $3 Billion on the French war and by 1954 will provide 80 percent of all war supplies used by the French.
US involvement in Vietnam
The History Place - Vietnam War 1945-1960
2. they had 3 heads of state changes in less than 2 years--one was a MURDER! = totally unstable government/etc
3. corruption in the military and political hierarchy

....the US had naval and air superiority .....HUGE advantage with helicopters for placing units and resupply/-hundreds of thousands of troops/etc ----BEFORE 1973

We BEAT them TET offensive DESTROYED the VietCong, after that all the North could do was funnel troops into South Vietnam to pretend to be insurgents. By 72 we stabilized the Country when we pulled out. South Vietnam DID NOT FALL TO AN INSURGENCY they were INVADED by 25 North Vietnamese Divisions.

No all it would have take was air support and maybe so artillery. The North probed the lines in 75 and when we refused to aid the South THEN they invaded.

in 1965 Morley Safer knew we couldn't win
around the 1:50 mark it tells how the village is burned down
this is a great video..at the 3:25 mark Safer says we can win military victories with firepower.....''frustration'' of the Vietnam war....

Morley Safer's coverage of the Vietnam War changed everything

Yes, Vietnam was taken over by the Vietnamese after generations of foreign intervention.

what went wrong in vietnam is when Ho came to the USA while living here he actually sought help to get rid of the french
he was a commie but was a YUGE admirer of George Washington

The founding father of modern Vietnam is Ho Chi Minh. He led Vietnam's communist revolution against French colonial rule and then took on the US. But it seems he long had an admiration for the US and repeatedly sought the country's help in the decades before the Vietnam War.

What people might find most surprising is that he once lived in the United States: in Boston and in New York City.

Some Americans nowadays have this view of the US as a colossal and morally questionable imperial state. They forget that for most of its history, it was the revolutionary underdog. The country's whole narrative was one of resistance to a foreign tyrant —

..obviously MY points are correct from YOUR post = the North was much more stable/organized/etc than the South --the North had a stabilized government---the South did not--as I pointed out before
it doesn't matter if they were NVA or VC
