AP: Obama's Stimulus may Cure CANCER!... And Create HUNDREDS of Jobs!

Construction projects, a ferry terminal, battery factories ... and maybe a cure for cancer White House set to defend stimulus funding by highlighting programs

Ohio's transportation department is also building a new, 8.5-mile, four-lane highway in Nelsonville to move freight traffic off local roads and help these trucks reach their destinations more quickly.

The report says the $138 million project has created 300 jobs in the economically suffering state since the groundbreaking last fall.

.

Let's see, $138m to build an 8.5mi highway. That works out to $15.68M per mile.
Here's the State of Fl estimates. Note that they give the estimate for a 4 lane rural highway with shoulders at $4.2M per mile

Are they fucking kidding??? If the White House releases this, they're dumber than I think they are. It will show what a waste the whole thing has been, shot through with inefficiency and fraud.

idoits, you cant compare the cost of a freeway in one state to the cost in another. no 2 construction are exactly alike, nor do they travel through the same lands or require the same design.

Here are a few example:

- What are the wages to be paid on this project? how do they differ from state to state? were they union or non union?
- did the state have to purchase more land, or did they already own the existing parcel?
- was the freeway made out of asphalt or concrete (if you dont know the difference then figure it out; as concrete is more than twice as expensive as asphalt, but last much much longer with less wear and tear)
- did the project require overpasses or underpasses? if so what was the design it required?

just look here: (SANBAG: Measure I Freeway Projects)

As project partners, SANBAG and Caltrans shared in the design, funding and construction of State Route 210. The freeway is expected to hold an average of 163,000 vehicles per day, now that the final eight miles are complete. The final eight miles of the freeway through Rialto and San Bernardino cost approximately $233 million. This cost includes environmental work, design, right-of-way acquisition, utilities and construction costs. See a project cost summary. Funding for the freeway was provided in part by Measure I, the half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements in San Bernardino County. State and federal funds also were used to build Route 210.

if you have no idea how much major construction project like this costs, you have no business commenting on them. but im sure you all complain about how bad traffic gets during commute hours.

Well Brother Louis Farrakhan spoke of Obama in glowing terms that "the Messiah has come." Don't you expect the Messiah to cure the sick, feed the poor, clothe the naked, save the whales, and stop global warming too? If the stimulus is doing such wonderful things, why haven't we spent $8 trillion and fixed everything?

(Just ignore that man behind the curtain who knows that for every dollar we spend, we're borrowing more than 45 cents from people who don't like us very much.)
