I'm a vet ENTITLED to it, and I avoid it.

I'd rather pay out of pocket than rely on gov't.

Now I do have a buddy who is a 'Nam vet, and they've managed to keep him alive for a long time with COPD, but his experience is the exception compared to most other old vets I know. There are also countless stories of people deliberately left out to die.

We're talking about one of the most ignorant bed wetters in DC though, she might believe the gov't provides quality service, but most democrook political whores are marxist sociopaths who view individual people as a resource, like cattle, and don't give a shit about losing some.

To speak of the VA as a single entity is to not understand the VA. While they are trying to change it now, previously each VA medical center was its only little fiefdom, with the director basically acting as god and making all the decisions.

Thus there were some amazing VA medical centers and some terrible ones. I know people that choose their retirement location based off of the locality of a good VA medical center. The one in my local area is pretty good, I know a fair number of people that choose to use it.

The Doctors, the Techs, the skilled people? IMO, about as good as it gets.

The Bureaucracy? Horrible. Bad, really bad.

I got called in for a Lab last Month and nobody knew what it was for.

But I will tell you this much, in all fairness to the VA..... I had to have a Hip Replacement (just shoot yourself, it's less painful) and the VA Hospital I stayed at for almost a week (Bay Pines) was, without a doubt, not even close -- The Best Hospital I've ever had the misfortune to stay in.

OTOH, after the Lying Cocksucker instituted the Veterans Choice program, the VA sent me through the system without my knowledge...... Seems they get graded on how long a Vet has to wait for Service and the Choice system doesn't count against them. Complicated. And stupid beyond belief.

I had a Kidney Stone stuck in my Ureter for FIVE FUCKING MONTHS?

People, if you've never had one, you don't want to know, you can not imagine the pain. The only pain worse than a kidney stone trying to pass through your ureter is being burned alive. true fact

I was impressed with the VA. Good friend got his stroke care from The VA. He couldn't walk so they gave him a wheelchair. Right after he died in bed. They waited months to reply to the request; surprising they didn't wait to provide the chair until after he was actually in the grave.
