I don't know what agenda HBO has since they for the most part are pretty liberal but the series Deadwood has me thinking? It's actually sort of refreshing seeing a series like that where everything is politically incorrect. The people back in 1876 Deadwood were all suspicious of each others ethnic heritage and would yell an ethnic slur right in someone's face at the drop of a hat.At the same time the only color that mattered was gold and if someone could provide a needed service, they wouldn't care if they did business with a China man or a martian. Many of the people back then spoke far more eloquently than people of today do and they spoke the queen's English.I sort of have a sneaky suspicion though that HBO wants to drive a point home that people back then were more potty mouthed than punks are today that always catch heat from people like O'reilly who gives em all hell when he bashes rappers.etc.

I think the agenda of the show is to deglamourize the idealized notions we have of frontiersmen and entrepeneurs, both of them being very American symbols, our self created mythology. It's just trying to say "Hey, these people were sort of scummy, too, ya know." It's a slap in the face of America. Yet still, it's a damn fine show.

That's cool how they got Larry from Larry, Darrel and Darrell. I think they also have a real gimp.
